Good day to you all my tutors and learners here on hive.
I remain this humble soul who is always ready to appreciate my existence on the surface, once we realize that staying alive is never by our power or might then we know that all we have to do in life is to thank God for his mercy and grace over us.
I was brought up in a home where we most times remain indoors. My childhood days were not so boring but I can’t say it’s lively either. At times we are always indoors immediately after we are back from school till the next day. So this never allowed us to mix up with people in the community and make friends. I can say we have friends but having that best friend we clicked together always wasn’t so easy to come by.
But as time goes on we have to relocate from our area to somewhere else. This became an eye-opener for us and made us see more of life and friendship. It was just a matter of time before we mingled with people.

I had friends while I was in secondary school but I am going to say it was all temporary and just like an illusion. It came and flushed away. The only time we could be together was when we are on the school premises. Little did we know about each other real-life matters and way of life. So I might term those friends, conditional friends or situational friends. Though to some they got best friends from college days I didn’t.
I am not the type that has cliques or socializes that easily. Right now I can’t even mention two of my secondary schoolmates that I am still in contact with to date. It all wiped off immediately after we finished our entrance exams.
Getting into university.
I knew my days in the university will be quite different from that of secondary school. And I hope I will be able to socialize even more. My brother was in his final year at the university when I joined him in his hostel. So I lived with my brother.
Schooling at the university was so strange to me at that point and I was so careful about whom to make friends with. I knew the kind of friend I moved with will determine who I am and how well I am going to perform.
A few weeks into the session I was still all alone. Going to classes all by myself and also sorting out things by myself. With time I knew almost everyone living in the hostel. I only knew them by name and their level. I respect those who are of a higher level and I mingle with those who are of the same level. There is a guy called Timi, his room is adjacent to ours, and also lives with his brother who was in his 3rd year then.
We don’t have many conversations, just once in a while and then till some other time.
There was a day when I had to go to class. I met with him on the walkway, it was coincidental because we never left home at the same time or even thought of meeting somewhere. I was surprised and we shook hands. I asked where he was heading and he said he was having the same class I am having. Are you offering the course?? He nodded his head. 😂.
What department are you in? He answered Agriculture. 😂. I smiled and said oooh. So you are an Agric student and we never saw each other for once in classes. 😆. He was also surprised I was offered agriculture too. Deep down, I was so happy, at least I got someone from my hostel in the same department. Now we can resume classes together and also go home together.
Since then I got closer to him than before. Everyone in the hostel didn’t believe we were both agricultural students and knew we were talking to each other. They were surprised by our meetup. 😂.
It got to a level during the second semester when we began to grab the scope of schooling 🥲. Normally we leave for school together before. But at some point, we realize we are always taking the back seats and it’s not making sense because we hardly hear what the lecturer says. We decided to make it so that anyone ready should leave for classes as early and take a space for the others. The pattern worked out fine and since then we are always in the front seat for lectures.
During the vacation, we talked at times without numbers, and when our results were out, we sent each other screenshots without thinking twice. I got used to him, his vibes, morals, and way of life. He is just like me. Our results were just a little different. Since then he has become my best friend. One other guy joined us too. But he doesn’t live with us. His vibes were cool too. So the three of us moved together.
After the first year, we had to move to another hostel and when we moved we still got somewhere close to each other again. It was like that till we graduated.
There are a lot of things I like about him some of which are
His attitude towards academics. He is the serious type who motivates me to do better and never give up.
His character. He is so jovial, friendly, kind, and a giver. He doesn’t get angry easily.
We did a lot of things together while in school as friends. Even when we had to serve our fatherland we were posted to the same geopolitical zone. His state was just an hour away from mine. We are still in touch to date and I believe there are a lot of things we have to do together in the future.
