Good day to you all my tutors and learners here on Hive.
There is this friend of mine who loves filters so much. The funniest part is that he is male by gender. So my other friend would always challenge him and make jest of him whenever he uploads his videos or pictures on social media well filtered and edited. Anyways, I am just an intermediary between them.
It got to some point where I would be called upon to check on their skin color and compare the difference to see who is lighter and who is dark-skinned. Actuality I am still intermediate too. Not too light and not too dark. So I would just laugh at them and not even know who to pick because both of them are dark-skinned.
The problem with my other friend that doesn’t use filters in his pictures is that when he views the guy that uses filters he is always light-skinned there and even more lighter than his real picture. So it gives him a lot of concern and yet the filter guy is not ready to stop using filters too.
To me, I use filters and I don't use them too. You can't know when I use them and when I don't. The actual reason for filters is more of editing the environment of the picture. But when too much is used then it turns a nice image negative.
To the light-skinned, filters are okay in as much as it doesn't change their complexion completely, but just to brighten their images. But for the dark-skinned, filters are not okay, but the effects of black and white could make a lot of sense and even bring the picture to life.
So filters are used when necessary, not when you already made a capture of a bright, good-looking image then you still added a filter again making your skin color red or green. That's not it. There are times we take pictures in a dull environment like a dark room or a shaded environment. Filters are okay here because the initial image has been altered in one way or the other.
The use of Snapchat.
I remembered a time when a lady lent me my phone to take pictures. He already took my phone for hours and has yet to return it to me. I felt she must have used up my storage. When she finally showed up, she said what do I use to take pictures, or don't I take pictures? Then she challenged me for not having Snapchat on my device. It was like I shouldn’t be on Earth without Snapchat. 😂.
She said she had been looking for the app on my phone. I told her I didn’t have one. Then I had to forcefully download one for her. At the end of it all. She took those pictures and videos to satisfaction. Then I checked both pictures, the ones captured with Snapchat filled with filters were way different and not as cool as the ones she took with the mobile camera, but the difference was clear.
She was way prettier and look even more of her natural beauty with the camera than the Snapchat filters. But to her, the Snapchat pictures were the best.
Opinion differs, but my words, in summary, is that filters are there to be used when necessary and not to be used exclusively.
This is my response to the prompt for week 69 edition 1 on the hive learners community and the topic to be discussed is FILTERS.
