Good day to you all my tutors and learners here on Hive.
I have been writing for years now and I can easily call it my hobby. At times there are hobbies you just love for no reason, just because you find yourself attached to doing those things naturally. And there are some you love doing for some reason attached to them. I wasn't born a writer nor did I come to life with a pen in my hands. But as time goes on I realize I was just passionate about writing.
Writing wasn't my favorite hobby but drawing was. I remembered when my fine art teacher gave us a class assessment on drawing. We were asked to draw from the board and he drew three different things on the board. Two were easier and one was harder. Most of the class students opted for the easier ones. But I opted for the hard one.
After drawing, I had to submit it. A few minutes later, another guy and I were called. We were presented to the headmistress's office as the best art students in the class. We never knew it was a test from the headmistress. She needed some of the best artists among her students to be presented for an upcoming art competition.
We were in her office till she gave us a sketchbook, crayon, hb pencil, ruler, and all other tools for drawing. I was asked to draw a picture portrait of the Nigerian president then. That was Olusegun Obasanjo. And the other guy drew the state governor of Lagos state portrait Ahmed Tinubu in her office. It took me hours to draw it because I never wanted to disappoint. The drawing came out cool and the other guy was indeed an incredible artist too.
The headmistress was so happy about it and appreciated our efforts, our artwork got pasted on the school billboards for weeks. It was about time for the inter-school competition, but fate never allowed me to participate. That would have been my stepping stone toward becoming the artist I dreamed of.
A lot of things changed, I forgot about my passion for drawing and sketching. I started reading some story books and then fell in love with writing stories too. Then I decided to mimic all these sorts of comic books, the supa strikas football comic book was my source of inspiration. I started writing and drawing, then I sell them to my classmates who are interested in reading them. Some give me gifts to read and many others pay and buy it from me. 😂. That was my first earning from my hobby.

Time flies. The comic was just for a short period. I thought of writing and publishing a storybook. I wrote many short stories but they all got lost. None of them survived to be published. Then I also gave up on making published stories.
A few years ago, I was introduced to Steemit by my brother. I couldn’t believe my eyes when he told me he just got paid online for writing. I was happy to see an opportunity to tune my hobby into money.
I created an account on Steemit, wrote several poems and write-ups, and got paid, till the end of Steemit surfaced. I thought this must not be the end of my career.
Other platforms surfaced. I joined them but couldn’t earn as much as I got from Steemit, but I still kept writing, I saw the beginning and end of many blogging platforms before I journeyed back on Hive again.
Many people already left, but my love for writing still kept me going and even made me stronger. I have earned a lot from what I love doing and am still earning. For as much as hive remains I will keep writing and earning in my near future. I have also earned a little through drawing but not as much as writing.
These two hobbies have been a source of happiness to me and I appreciate myself doing them especially when it comes with earnings.
This is my response to the prompt for week 75 edition 1 on the hive learners community and the topic to be discussed is THE PAYING HOBBY.
