It's so sad that our generation nowadays is having things on a decline. Love, contentment, commitment, respect, responsibility, peace of mind, security, discipline, dignity and many others. Can we tag all of these on the technological era we found ourselves in or just the world declining gradually and coming to an end?
I just wonder how the people of the past lived their lives without technology. We heard of the Stone Age, they cook, eat, dress, communicate, and do all other sorts of things humans do. Yet they lived a peaceful life.
But nowadays we claim to live an advanced way of life that is better than that of our ancestors. But we are not experiencing half of the peace they had, the good life they had. Despite the civilization we claim to embrace.
Where is dignity?
Gone are the days when dignity was dignity. When dignity bridges respect and responsibility. Nowadays I can't feel that much impact of dignity in our era again. Is it that it keeps melting away? I can't even really say.
I was on the X app a few weeks ago and I watched a video that was uploaded of some guys harassing a lady publicly. I was short of words after watching for a few minutes. I asked myself what has this world tuned into?
The lady in question dressed and went her way out. She got on the street but all of a sudden found herself stopped by some guys who claimed to complain about the way she dressed. Her dressing was so bad, she came out just like she wore nothing. She was half exposed. It's not that she ran mad or something, but he counted it her way of fashion.
The guys started pouring her water and asking her to go back to change that dress. She refused to do so as she kept claiming her right to freedom. The harassment went on and everyone gathered at the scene. I felt ashamed for her and even the guy too.
I can't tell who is to be blamed among them. Should I blame the lady who intentionally dressed unmannered? Or do I blame the guy who doesn’t even have some sense of approach and discipline to harass a lady in public?
Dignity in humanity!
Dignity had gone far away from humanity. Especially in recent times. I don't know if it's that the world keeps producing more women than in the past or what. Women fall more into this.
Women of the past, our mothers, grandmothers, and great-grandmothers had their way of dressing. No matter the culture, tribe, or even ethnic group they belong to, their mode of dressing would always speak with dignity, and this earned them a lot of respect.
These days, our ladies are just on their way. They see fashion and the good life as moving away from dignity and turning themselves into a center of attraction. They don't want to dress well anymore. And the more they do, the more they lose respect across humanity.
If our women nowadays are finding it hard to embrace dignity while they claim to be more civilized. Then what can we tell about the generations to come?
