Sugar is something I cannot run from, and even if I do, it is present in my food. There was a time when I was still in the higher institution, and I loved taking sugar, especially while drinking cassava flakes (garri). It is something every student has taken just to quench hunger while in school.
The intake of sugar has countless benefits as well as the downside of it. But from what I have read, I don't know which one has more gravity (the good side or the worse side of it?).
The intake of sugar promotes the proper functioning of cells in the body. Cells like the blood cells, the muscle cells, and so on. This is the reason children are mostly advised to take sugar to some extent.
Could you all believe that sugar is part of the ingredients that give us energy? Yes, it gives us strength to carry out hard work.
Back in the days when we were still in the school, my teacher had always said plainly that the intake of sugar is so good, but growing up, I got a different orientation and instances behind it about the bad side of excessive intake of sugar. I kept saying maybe my teacher was lying, but then I remembered that he also, at some points, did a little damage to what the excessive intake of sugar can cause.
Now, if sugar is good, and we were advised to take it, how is it now bad, and in turn, we were at this moment advised to run away from it?
Anyway, I think it is because of advancement. Eventually, I think reducing the excess intake of sugar can go a long way in protecting our health.
As for me, anytime I take any sugar in excess, potentially during drinking minerals or any form of sugar, I do ensure to drink bitter leaf water alongside scent leaf. This, to me, can go a long way in flushing out the excess sugar in my body.
To crown it all, sugar is present in the carbohydrates we do take daily. To me, I eat cassava flakes a lot, and this contains sugar when it is broken down. So, most of the foods we do take have sugar contents in them.
Diabetes is a cause of too much or excess intake of sugar. I know so many people who have this diabetes thing, and the advice they were given was to stop taking sugar-giving foods as well as drinks that contain sugar.
My mom always advised all her children to always take bitter leaves after using sugar. Although, to me, it's a kind of remedy to the excessive intake of sugar. I do run from eating bitter leaf, but it is what I must take to make me free from sugar.
My kids, after taking sugar, I always give them herbal mixtures just to flush out the sugar from their system.
So, this means that even though there is sugar in drinks, I still drink them, but not in excess, as this would not come out well in the body system.
In essence, there is nothing I can use to replace sugar. I only use salt anytime I'm drinking cassava flakes, but with the addition of a little sugar.
