The Champions League 2005 final will forever remain a football history that I would love to witness if possible. I just wished such history would repeat itself once again, as Liverpool had the spirit of great finishing with a weak-spirited start. They were determined to take the lead, unlike some other teams, who would remain weaker even after the first-half result.
AC Milan travelled to the Ataturk Olympic Stadium in Istanbul as the favourite team to win the cup. They were hyped beyond imagination and were tipped by everyone as Liverpool had been looked down upon. Their intentions were justified as they forced Liverpool to play rubbish in the first half after netting 3 goals to nothing. Everybody rose in an echo of the best side of AC Milan, not knowing the outcome of the final result. The AC played extremely great and perfectly, if I may say, leaving the worst side of Liverpool behind.
The goals were from Paolo Maldini and Herman Crespo, who saw the net twice. These goals were so superb, the types of their kinds. The field was filled up with the roaring of the best side (AC Milan). They were the supposed side to win the Champions League final but somehow became mute after the second half.
AC Milan starting XI: Dida; Cafu, Stam, Nesta, Maldini; Gattuso, Pirlo, Seedorf; Kaka; Shevchenko, Crespo
Substitutes: Abbiati, Kaladze, Costacurta, Rui Costa, Dhorasoo, Serginho, Tomasson.
They played fantastic football as they had the best chances ever.
Liverpool starting XI: Dudek; Finnan, Carragher, Hyypia, Traore; Alonso; Luis Garcia, Gerrard, Riise; Kewell, Baros
Substitutes: Carson, Josemi, Hamann, Nunes, Biscan, Cisse, Smicer.
Liverpool played a 4:4:2 formation with a weak start, but a remarkable finish. Gerrard was all around moving towards, aiming for something great.
From behind, the restless Liverpool players took over the lead as they were just like angry lions. They were ready to pave their best opportunities to save their heads from leaking. It was a turnaround surprise for Liverpool as they came out to take the lead. They were everywhere and were ready to pour in their best. During the 60th minute in the second half, Liverpool took chances as they were not ready to lose any form of chance. They opened the net with a goal and within six minutes, they flooded the net with three goals.
Steven Gerrard was seen as the man of the match as he remarkably wiped his best to gain an advantage in winning the league. The goals came from Steven Gerrard, Vladimír Šmicer, and Xabi Alonso.
Liverpool’s victory was greased with surprise, as they caught AC Milan unaware to equalize the game. Liverpool manager, Rafael Benitez, admitted how he was short of words to describe his victory.
The game later ended in penalties, where Liverpool took the lead with 2:0. What a great finish and determination.
I just love to witness this game once again just because of the heart of spirited players who played from their hearts. They played to win, but not to get beaten.
In conclusion, life is all about determination. When you think you have lost it all, with your mind of determination, you can bounce back to take the lead. Everyone is made to win, but not everyone can know the method of winning, or not everyone can know how to engrave the habit of winning. To win is in the mind, but to lose comes with fear. When you have fear in the first place, consider losing the most important part of your life. But when you overlook your loss and fall back to take the lead, then you are bound with determination and have cast out the spirit of fear from your mind.
Fear and winning are two different things, and the two cannot welcome each other. When you are afraid, you are bound to lose, but when you cast fear from your mind, consider winning your best friend. Liverpool were not afraid when they entered the second half. They were ready to win and were ready to take the trophy home.
Are you ready to get defeated? Then, stay with the mind or habit of fears, but if not, cast those fears out of you and get up for the better side of you.
