Greetings to all and sundry on this most noble platform. I welcome you all to my blog once more, and today I write to submit my entry for the third edition of this week's contest (i.e., Week 49 edition 3), featuring the topic "Undeserved" and it is about a gift that you have received before which you think you don't actually deserve that. Without much ado, let's go straight into this topic.
I am very excited to write and share with you guys this exciting, story where I was presented with a beautiful scarf by an old man I met in a store when getting myself something for dinner. I was really excited and amazed that day, a very joyous day for me.
It was a hot harmattan afternoon when I was walking to the local store to pick up a few items for dinner. I hadn't been feeling well lately and was feeling a bit down. I was a little lost in thought as I walked, and I didn't realize how far I had gone until I was standing in front of a small store.
As I peered into the store, I spotted a familiar face. It was an elderly man who I'd seen around the neighborhood many times before. He was a kind soul and always had a smile on his face. I waved to him and he waved back. He motioned for me to come inside the store.
I stepped inside and the old man greeted me with an even brighter smile. He told me he had been watching me walk by for weeks, and he knew that I was going through a tough time. He said he wanted to do something to make me feel better.
Before I could say anything, he took out a box from under the counter and presented it to me. Inside the box was a beautiful scarf. He had knitted it himself. It was made of soft wool and had a pattern of snowflakes on it. It was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen.
The old man's act of kindness moved me more than I could have ever imagined. I was overcome with emotion and I thanked him for his thoughtfulness. He said he just wanted to make sure I was feeling alright and that he hoped the scarf would bring me some warmth and joy on the cold harmattan days.
The old man's act of kindness changed my life that day. His gesture reminded me of the compassion and kindness that still exists in the world. It showed me that no matter how difficult life can be, there are still people out there who are willing to go out of their way to make a difference in someone else's life.
I still wear that scarf every harmattan and I'm reminded of the old man's act of kindness each time I do. I'm reminded that no matter how down I feel, there are still small acts of kindness out there that can make all the difference. I'm reminded that even on the toughest days, if we look hard enough, we can find something, or someone, that can bring us hope and joy.
The old man's selfless act of kindness was a reminder to never give up on hope, and to always remember that even on the darkest days, kindness still exists.
Thank you all for your time and attention.
