Greetings to all and sundry on this noblest platform. I welcome you all to my blog once more, and today I write to submit my entry for the first edition of this week's contest (i.e., Week 53 edition 2), featuring the topic "Teacher Grading" and it is about sharing my best and worst teachers so far as my educational ladder is concerned to you guys. Let's dive into the topic without much ado.
Although as a student it isn’t advisable we hate our tutors but sometimes we do hate some of them due to certain attitudes of the teacher towards us. I have encountered several kinds of teachers as I climb higher on my educational ladder. I have met some good teachers which I did enjoy teachings a lot whilst others to not at all.
The worst teacher I ever had was Madam Irene. She taught me the English language at my Junior high level. She was an easy-tempered person that always gets angry easily during or after teaching. Although she had a passion for teaching students she likes to give the work out to us to go and study by ourselves. She was the kind of person that has little or no patience. Even when it comes to asking and answering questions, she dislikes that and we didn’t know the reason behind that. When she realizes we start to ask a lot of questions in her class, she just aborts them all and continues with her lessons.
As we all know the difficulty in studying the English language, but this woman would only come to read to us without any better explanations for what she is teaching. She sometimes leaves the students in a state of confusion and when we ask her question for clarification she would just tell us to go and read or learn it ourselves and that not everything would be given by the teacher.
Madam Irene’s approach of discipline students was bad. She would just sack you from her class once she sees you doing something different other than paying attention in her class. Also, she sometimes calls the principal and informs him about what you’ve been doing during her lesson period. She sometimes says certain things that you haven’t even done to the principal so as to indicate how severe your stubbornness is. Due to her behavior, students do fear her and also sometimes we just become happy when she misses a class.
Madam Irene was not the kind of teacher that supports or assists her students when they find things difficult to assimilate instead she would rather discourage you from the efforts you are putting in place. Her lessons period has never had never been a conducive learning environment. In all, I would rate Madam Irene a one out of ten because she doesn’t deserve any ratings other than a one. She even made me lose interest in that subject and that was when I started to dislike the English Language as a course.
On the other hand, Mr. Richard also one of my Junior High-level teachers was the best teacher I have ever had. He taught me Mathematics and from his teachings, you can tell that he has a passion and enthusiasm for teaching. She was eager to answer questions from his students and also takes his time to explain every concept of the subject for his students to assimilate whatever he was teaching.
Mr. Richard was the teacher that always try to make his class enjoyable and fun so his students don’t get bored during his lesson time. Before he starts whatsoever topic he wanted to teach, he would start with a scenario that would be linked to the topic so as to make our understanding easier. This shows how he mastered the subject he teaches.
Mr. Richard was the teacher that made me love Mathematics even till my university level as at now. I developed an interest in way of teaching and also in the course. I always do get high scores in mathematics and I can boast that maths has been one of the courses that I always get highest among all the subjects that I offer from my Junior High level to my current level (University).
He used to motivate and encourage students to always try to be creative by looking at things happening in our society so we can relate them to our studies. His way of punishment has been a fair one unlike that of Madam Irene. He is always available to help and support his students whether it is his period or not.
In all, I would rate Mr. Richard a ten out of ten and he really deserves that. He is a patient, kind, generous, and enthusiastic teacher who is always ready to assist and support his students at any time. He has taught me a lot of things, and I would like to use this opportunity to say a big thank you to him for whatever he has done for me.
