Promises made to people are meant to be kept, but for some reasons one can still break Those promises planned or not planned.
This is a special week and I am grateful to those that celebrated this topic that says - A broken promise. Humans are always victims of broken promises because we are humans. Sometimes when we make promises, we can't see the future. All we see is today and we also have it in mind that we will be able to fulfill our promises. But we display our vulnerability when the unforseen happens. I have made lots of promises, kept some and broke some. Sometimes I don't break a promise because I want to, or because I am wicked. But it happens sometimes because I myself I got disappointment from people. When I make these promises I will also be hopping on something that is promised to be so that I can use it to fulfill my own promises. When I get a disappointment, I will also disappoint another person who is seriously hopping on me. At this junction the person will think that I did it on purpose. Sometimes there will be no justifiable words to use and convince people why you disappointed. But this is just how unfair life can be.
Moving on, I will love to share a particular scenery that happened and I made promises that I was never able to to keep. Just four weeks ago my younger brother called me three times and I wasn't close to my phone to pick up. When I got back I tried calling back and his number was not reachable. Later in the evening I called again and he didn't pick, but later called me after some minutes and was sounding somehow. I had to call him back to ask what the problem was. He told me that he has been sick for days now. He tried to treat himself and it wasn't working, now he decided to go for a test and don't have the money to pay for the bills. That very day I had nothing on me and I made a promise to him that I will get him something in two days time. I know that when he ask for money and I have I usually give it to him. But for this day I was actually struggling to make food at home and there is no money to even buy food stuff to make a nice food for my family when his call came in.
The reason why I made that promise was because I was expecting some money in two days time. But before the money arrived I had more than enough problems at home to solve and I couldn't send anything to him. He kept calling and calling and I refused to pick his call, instead I called him back to explain that I could not send the money because I had a lot of things to attend to in my family and right now I still need some more money to complete it. He understood but was not happy because he has all his hope on my promises.
WAS IT JUSTIFIABLE?
Hmmm! I don't think I do something very bad. Even though his is my brother, I still have my own family to take care of. And all he ever do is to call and ask for money. Anytime he calls, he will start complaining that he don't have food or that he is sick. I believe that I did the right thing. At this point he is supposed to be helping me and not the other way round. Maybe it is because he gets money when he calls that is what gives him the courage to keep calling.
A VALID REASON TO BREAK A PROMISE
If you make a promise to someone and later discovered that the person lied and what he told you, that is enough valid reason to break that promise. This is what I think.
