Welcoming you all to another amazing week. It's another day to talk about a very important topic which is around Education.
Western education was introduced to Africa and was supposed to be generally accepted for both genders but there was a clause along the line.
At those times in my country, it started with a whole community gathering and contributing their quota in sending someone they believed in to be a bright future to study and get educated with the mindset of helping the community in return when he's done and gets successful.
As time goes on, education started spreading across giving more people the benefit of going to school, but along the line the benefit of education was diverted to the boy children who would carry on with the names of their fathers aside the females who would end up in the kitchen at their husband's house based on the mentality of the people back then which also led to the females just helping out with farmlands and boys getting the western education to bring honour to the family.
As civilization would have it, orientation of most people started changing, especially parents, giving rooms for female or girl children to start going to school and getting educated to whatever stage they wanted.
We have ladies banging Bachelors degree, Post graduate degree, Doctorate degrees and also becoming professors.
In my country, there's no limit to getting education as you can always go to any length but it may just depend on financial stability to getting what you want to any level you want it either as a male or a female.
Though, there are some who sponsors their education themselves with their struggle and hard earned money. When income stops then dropping out might be the solution if there's no one to run to for help. So that may be the reason for educational limits for some people.
It can also be a decision of the child to decide the level they are stopping probably because they think they don't have the mental capacity to proceed more than the level their peers are willing to get to or parents wants them to get to.
Fortunately right now, measure are in place giving students scholarships both locally and internationally. Some might be a full scholarship or may be scholarship on tuition fee alone and not including any other school payment but this has also help in ensuring that people who desire to get educated are achieving their dreams as long as they are ready to learn.
The government has also come out with the idea of loaning students money to ensure that there's reduction in the rate of drop out in schools and that every less privileged person have access to education and is able to complete their education and this is no respect of any particular gender.
Both genders have access to education in my country and there's no static rate to the number of either male or female gender getting educated as both genders are massively getting admitted to the universities for their degrees.
However, there are still some families, or communities who still believe and enforces the idea of no girl-child education and it's sad and shocking realizing that is still happening considering the rate of civilization and exposure in the world right now.
Sincerely, everyone may not be willing to get educated but it becomes bad when the reason for not being educated is because the person was/is denied of it.
I'll be dropping my pen here on the Hive Learners community prompt.
Thanks for reading through 🤗
