These photos were taken by me at the bank of Saweuk river (Krueng Saweuk), North Aceh Regency, Sumatra.
Elattoneura souteri is a species of damselfly belonging to the family Platycnemididae. This species is endemic to Western Ghats, South India. Yes, I think South India has a lot in common with the islands in Indonesia because they both have tropical climates.
This is a damselfly that has a black tail, the tail is longer than other species of damselfly in the family Platycnemididae. Reddish-brown compound eyes, brown back with black and red stripes. The wings are transparent black and the legs are black. I can confirm, this damselfly habitat is only in areas close to freshwater rivers because I've never seen it anywhere else before.
