Like the Javanese and Acehnese have different traditions. The initial marriage procession which aims to propose and get the agreement of both families, jak baranub (application) begins when the groom says he intends to go to the bride's residence by bringing offerings in the form of betel, cake and others. In this procession, the woman's family is given the opportunity to consider and answer, if it has been agreed, then proceed with jak basign. Jak ba Tanda (fiance) is a continuation of the proposal which is marked by the groom visiting the bride's house again to discuss marriage. In this procession, the amount of dowry and the number of invited guests are determined. In addition, the groom brings Acehnese specialties and offerings such as beleukat kuneeng with tumphou, various fruits, a set of women's clothes, and jewelry according to the ability of the male family.
Customs and culture are characteristics of a group that must be preserved in order to stay awake so that they do not disappear with changing times. Marriage occupies an important position in the social order of the Acehnese people. In fact, not infrequently people consider marriage as something sacred in their lives. For this reason, Acehnese customs regulate marriage ceremonies. Aceh's traditional wedding ceremony is not a mere ritual process. Aceh's traditional wedding ceremonies contain high religious and social values, therefore the importance of community participation in preserving Aceh's customs and culture so that Aceh's cultural customs are maintained.
