Hello everyone this is week two of the newbie initiative and it has been wonderful, in the space of two weeks I have been able to learn a lot.
For every Newbie Initiative meeting that is being held, we are enlightened about new things.
In the last meeting, we were made to understand the use of markdown styles to make our work properly arranged and appealing to the eyes, and I feel so bad that I haven’t been using some of the markdown styles correctly.
For this week, I’m partnering with @harvodey, she is someone with a nice personality. I’m so excited to be partnering with her. My partner is also good in French😊😊
We spoke at length about the meeting held on Sunday and she contributed a great deal to what she was able to understand, the markdown styles and the do’s and don’ts of Hive blockchain.
We also cracked few jokes and got to know ourselves better, well that is one benefit of having a great partner.
For the newbies' Task 2, we were asked to talk about major key terms that are associated with the blockchain and they are:
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CENTRALIZED AND DECENTRALIZED PLATFORMS?
I first heard about centralized platforms, decentralized platforms, and Web 2 and 3 when I joined Hive.
Centralized Platform is a platform where one doesn’t have complete ownership over his/her content, your account, and even your followers.
You could wake up one day and your content is either canceled or taken by another person or your account can be deleted. It is a Web 2 platform, and on such platforms, decision-making is being done by the management, there is a CEO, investors, and higher authorities controlling the affairs of the platform.
Decentralized Platform is a web3 platform where the decision-making is done by everybody on the platform. In decentralized platforms you have maximum ownership of your content, account, and also your followers, and your monetization funnel isn’t controlled by anyone, you are the boss and you are in charge!
PLAGIARISM, VOTE BEGGING, AND POST RECYCLING
PLAGIARISM
Plagiarism is seen as a big offense on the Hive blockchain. It is simply the copying of someone’s content and posing it as your work. Not only that it could also entail you using AI to generate content.
The major aim of this blockchain would be defeated if the original contents were not the order of the day.
The platform supports and promotes original content. If your content isn’t original then it is said to be plagiarized and is punishable by law.
This platform kicks against plagiarism strongly and the consequences for plagiarism are always a serious one.
VOTE BEGGING
This entails begging for votes from people, which screams desperation. Most times your post might not be curated, you have to accept it in good faith rather than going around to beg for votes.
Vote begging is a big turnoff and most times you can get downvoted for this singular act
I advise that you publish only original content and that your posts are nicely put together to attract curators if eventually you don’t get it don’t feel too bad, just keep writing.
POST RECYCLING
Is the act of re-editing and reusing a previous post you made. The reason behind this might be that you have nothing to post or that the previous post didn’t get much attention. This is strongly kicked against on Hive. On Hive we are strongly asked to submit original and fresh content.
WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO USE THE RIGHT TAG?
We use tags that are connected to what we are writing. This helps our posts to reach the right audience and a wider one too.
For example, if someone searches for fiction under tags, it is known that all fiction work will appear under that fiction tag. So if you happen to write about fiction and you used the tag then your work will appear there but if you wrote about fiction and failed to use that particular tag, there is a slim chance your post will not reach the right audience.
Using the right tags helps you gain visibility. Most communities give you certain tags to use. It is advised that when you write in those communities you use the community tags and other tags related to what you have written.
GENERAL TAGS
Four (4) general tags that could go with any content include #Neoxian, #vyb, #Creativecoin, and #Proofofbrain.
I will always be grateful to @starstrings01, @moremoney28, and everyone behind the Newbies Initiative. Y’all are superb!
Cheers 🥂
