Time is every essential in the life of humans. They say time is "one of the most valuable currency in this world". It is the only currency that can be in abundance and at the same limited. Just like normal currency, if you mismanage time you can't get it back and also if you properly manage it, you will get the true value of it.
In life, people are in different positions with time. Some are ahead of time, some are moving with time, while some are at the back of time. All this goes down to Time management.
When you manage your time poorly, you will be forced to be at the back of time, as the saying goes "Time waits for no man". Time also have it's own journey so it can't wait for you all day, is either you join when it's moving or stand a chance to be left behind.
My story of how I repeated a year in college because I poorly managed time
One of the period of my life when I poorly managed time, which later affected me very bad was in my first year in college.
I was very happy to be admitted into the college immediately after I finished my secondary school. I was also given the course of my choice, I was super excited because most of classmates told me they weren't given the course of their choice so I felt very lucky.
I went into college young and very vibrant, curious to explore the four-walls of the university and have the best fun I can. At the first few months I was very serious in my studies because the advice of my parents was still fresh in my head, so that motivated me to keep going not withstanding the too much stress that was in the first year, you had to run around to get all registration done, and you also have to go for lectures at the same time, it was tiring but you have no choice than do what is needful not minding the stress.
I was doing well as expected, I would just say that I was moving with time in this new journey of mine and this made me believed the future will be very promising.
First semester finished and I was given the A's and B's I worked for and expected, so that made me very excited, the start of the journey is going well for me and I wanted it to end this way.
This excitement took over me that I taught I had arrived, there is nothing that's is stopping me. So one-day I got reminded by one of my plans when I was also seeking for admission into college. The plan was also to have fun as much as I can and also explore as much, I wanted to also be an adventurer. So this plan stocked into my mind and slowly surpassed the one of having a good grades.
Second semester started, and I started a new journey entirely different from the one of first semester. The goal this time around was to adventure as much as I can. I said to myself if I could survive during my secondary school days with the adventure life then I can also do it here. I did not understand that the tertiary institution was entirely a different ball game.
I started managing my time poorly, I could not meet up for lectures, it is either I'm in one social club or in another place having fun as usual. Time was moving ahead of me so fast. A time came when I was completely out from academic activities and I was fully focused on social activities. I thought time would always wait for me, while my mates were learning, I was carrying out different kinds of social duty as if it was what made me came into the institution,. I went late for lectures and sometimes missed them, it was my new course of study "Social Activities".
The semester was coming to an end and it was time for examination, that is when I remembered I was still a student of Engineering. I tried to read as much because I missed a lot of Continuous Assessment but it was too late. I wrote the examination, result came and it was the opposite of the first one, it was a parallel failure. It dawned on me that I had messed this up.

I tried my best to meet up but the load was too much, so I was forced to repeat a year in the school. While my level mates progressed to next year, I was left behind. I repeated the session again because of poor time management, not able to do what was important.
I learned a bitter lesson from that experience. I resolved to properly manage my time on things that matter.
Friends Time management is very important in every area of your life, set goals and use time to achieve it. The more you mismanaged your time, the more you are far away from your goals.
