I take serious the first day of the week, month and year, especially the year as I feel like it sets a tone for the rest of that year.
First, having to deal with just one day, which is not so much a time might be constricting, but, it'll do.

Pexel
Initially, I thought of a road trip to a African country, so I can wind down the roof of the car, and scream my lungs out as the wind slaps me across the face whilst the car goes at a furious speed. I obviously wouldn't be driving tho. After which I go sightseeing, enjoy great meals and some calm.
But..
because Christmas wouldn't be complete without family, we'll go somewhere, anywhere we all agree on,preferably a place with tourist attraction and a Riverside. During the day, we'll take walks touring the city, taking pictures, making video memories, trying out tasty meals, making fun of ourselves, teasing my parents, play games too(Scrabble, football, tennis, Ayo) and then, seeing a movie;;a home-video maybe as my mum might fall asleep Midway into a foreign one.
At dinner, later in the evening, i'll make sure there's an array of food. Everyone's favourite and much more. My dad would love that. He sometimes talks about how back in the day, they ate really well, having various meals to choose from.
I wouldn't want a quiet, 'table-manner-like' dinner. We usually never have those. We talk and laugh with our mouths full(not literally).
Sometime between when my mum is speaking, I'll chip in a statement, directed at my dad, " na so my mummy people de like to do, abi daddy? He'll take it up from there, throwing shades at my mother and her people. She'll react in like manner. My siblings and I will like that. We love to hear them bant about who was/is more prideful and whose family bore more reputable people and whose family was better than the other. We love how their voices rise albeit gently and how lovingly they gaze at each other. We love to take sides sometimes too and have them banter even more to win us over as backup. I love the contagious laughter that spreads amongst us as we watch them and also join in.
I'll also initiate a music time after meal. My mum would love that. We'll do it as we find most fun. With one of my siblings wedging a bucket between his thighs, another holding onto a bottle on one hand and a toothbrush on the other and the rest jam their hands together in sync with the sounds
My siblings sing so well. I love to hear our voices rise and fall in near perfect crescendo. With songs raised sharply and bass and tenor filling every corner of the room. You do not get to hear my voice. It is small when compared with those of these men.
Really, I barely join in the singing. I just play on my 'instrument", watch As their faces crease in smiles and cheer, their mouths move, their bodies wiggle especially as the non-dancers force their almost stiff bodies to move in tandem and count myself lucky to be a part of this union. This perfection.
When they have become so engrossed, I'll sneak out, go find a dark and very calm area beside the river, put on some soul music, watch the lights and movements on the opposite side, try to make figures out of the clouds and enjoy the peace that only nature gives.
This is my January first idea. It's nothing too big. Nothing unrealistic. What better way than to start the year merry and full of laughter with family. That way, whenever I am at a low point, I remember this day and the mood and get my moods up. All our moods up.
Thanks for gracing this post.
Greetings!
