Hey guys!
How are you all doing?
It's a new year, 2023.
Happy New year!!!
Here's how I spent the day;
The few hours preceding the new year was just as it has always been. Normal routine stuff. No one made plans to go to church as we had scheduled the time for some family Thanksgiving(which should have started by 10pm save for my suggestion that 11pm does it better).

Pexel
When it was about time, those of us around gathered in the living room, it was more of a praise session and about five to ten minutes of prayer. Not more. At exactly 12:02am(yeah, I was the time keeper), we ended and exchanged hugs, handshakes and pleasantries.
You know by now that sleeping wouldn't be so easy especially with all the fireworks the neighbourhood was exploding with.
I went into my room, picked my phone, went online and was met with a handful of messages and lots and lots of new year thanksgivings and status updates. I don't know why but replying felt like a hard task. I typed a happy new year post a couple of times and deleted them before I posted. There just wasn't any thrill. Felt that way with the Christmas celebration.
Well, I stayed on my phone until about two. Excitingly yet unconsciously, I started out on a few goals. It just happened. I hadn't planned to do them. At least, not that early in the morning.
I started out a really interesting book.
Something really funny happened in the wee hours of the morning, right after the new year vigil session. So, my bro was hungry, there was no cooked meal save for soup and chicken. Now, for later part of last year, I do not think anyone drank garri(cassava flakes) as much as myself and him. We soaked it everyday. Sometimes, more than twice.
There was always food but thinking about it now, I don't know what caused such addiction. More like unspoken competition. We drank it like we were getting paid to do so.
I digress.
So, I sold the idea of him having it but, he said he was scared of being the first person to eat it in the new year.
When I told him to have it with chicken(as he likes to do recently), he said, "just tell me you want to give me my title as the overall garri drinker of 2022 and grand patron in 2023." It was so funny.
That aside, there wasn't much that happened. Actually, nothing remotely related to a celebration took place. It was just another day. Like always, I was tasked with the chore of cooking and cleaning while i shuffled between using my gadgets and working.
Later in the day, some of my housemates(family) went out. And I savoured a calm environment. Just relaxed and did my thing. Exactly how I like.
Basically, all that happened with us(read as me) was clean, cook some, eat a little, use my gadget in between, clean again and then retire for the night.
It was a calm day. The exciting kind. Nothing extra happened. Nothing new.
Thanks for gracing this post.
Greetings!
