When I first joined Hive I really didn't have any goal except making money and living in a better condition than I was at that time. It was very simple, if it worked out for me I was going to do everything to push it. But then I wasn't good at writing, I thought to myself, so there was no way I was going to do it long term. That thought actually followed me when I joined Hive and I'm sure a lot of people had that mentality, thinking Hive is a get rich quick scheme.
After staying for a while, I started to see it was a lot bigger than that, way too overwhelming even and also interesting. I couldn't understand how everything worked at that time but I started to learn gradually. I started off with the #POB Community and started to meet different people from across different parts of the world. But did I set any goals then? No.
Months into my stay on Hive, I didn't set goals or try to push myself, I was just content with having something I could fall back on. But after hearing about the #newbies-initiative and how well it had helped a lot of authors who I'd been close to grow. I made my first goal for the year, To Join the Newbies Initiative. It had been a big deal for me and even after I missed joining the first batch I had applied for due to some phone issues, I still didn't give up, I finally pushed till I was able to join the initiative.
Coincidentally, the first lesson that came with the initiative was setting goals. I see goals as an aim or a purpose, something that needs to be achieve. You set than and they give you a purpose, something to keep going on for, something to keep you on your toes and untill you set them, you're just there living life everyday as it comes. Setting goals on Hive challenged me, I tried my very best to achieve them and on moments when I felt like giving up they kept pushing me and acted as a reminder that there was somewhere I was going.
The support of @theycallmedan , @starstrings01, @josediccus , @appreciator , @aliento , @newbies-hive and @hive-learners , really did well to give me a place on Hive and it kept me going. I'll keep singing their praises whenever I get the chance because if we had more initiative like this more newbies would be able to find their way in a vast sea like Hive. If you're a newbie I recommend you find a way to be part of the Initiative.
I also strived to be a better writter and content creator. It was normal for me to see myself as one who couldn't write, but it would have been abnormal if I didn't strive to improve myself. That would have been a serious mistake on my part and authors like @samsmith1971 , @mineopoly and @dreemsteem had always been there to see the good in me and push me to be better. I cannot thank them enough and I can say they were part of the reasons I stayed, pillars that made my foundation a lot stronger.
After that I started to join communities that actually had something I was interested in. I can remember the first time I joined #Movieshive and made my first review, the first comment I received could have broken me. I was told that my review was good enough, so good that it didn't deserve any votes. But then this comment was cleverly constructed with a humor that instead of annoy me, went on to motivate me to do more. Then I made my way to @comedyopenmic and I was surprised by the reception with @amirtheawesome1 being the most gentle teacher I could learn from. Each day he makes me better and he does so with very encouraging remarks.
Setting goals cannot actually be appreciated if you don't have the set of people around that helps you achieve them. You can appreciate that about Hive, amidst the struggle for power and dominance there's this beauty that comes with being in a community and you're left wishing you could actually meet this people and share this sort of bond real life. Hive is a place that I'd boldly recommend to any one and everyone from any part of the world.
I also decided that I'd not enjoy this benefits alone and I was going to find time to onboard someone to share it with me. At first it was challenging showing @nelson-george and @treasure-joshua why they needed to be here. But over time I let them see it for themselves and they have. In their own little way they've started to put in the work and I'm glad that they're still here doing whatever they can to better themselves, isn't it beautiful to be here with your friends?
Lastly, I wanted to really have a depth of the whole Crypto verse and that's where the @leofinance community comes to play. This Community has shapened over time and it has a lot to offer. I'm not surprised it's one of the biggest and active Community in this space because Hive reflects everything about Cryptocurrency with the inclusion of socialization. So with time I tried to engage and make some friends. It was great interacting with minds with years of experience and I must say I have gained a lot. I took a break from the community because I certainly didn't want to be involved in any form of plagerizing, I want to be able to create original content and with that I would have to understand how things work, so I've been doing some background reading and also learning from some great minded author's post, everything takes dedication and time, something I'm willing to put.
For the remainder of the year, I hope to increase my influence apart from growing my HP. Hive is a place that actually prioritizes value over anything else and I'll need to add value one way or the other to this space. I'm Working on getting a better phone that enables me work well as this one has screen problems and hangs a lot. As a lover of photography and one who's been able to engage in some form of Phone photography, I'll love to start creating my own pictures and using them in my posts bringing out that originality that makes me stand out.
I'll also love to speed up my learning and be an active part of the #Leofinance.io and also #hivelearners. It'll be selfish to receive assistance and not give back. A lot of people have sacrificed to make Hive really habitable for anyone and it'll only be normal for me to be part of that campaign in my own little way. I'll love to see Hive save a lot more lives and see more people design that beautiful logo of Hive on their wall as my guy @samostically has done. We all can be big if we all help each other and my goal is to be part of the Change that gives this space that big break through.
