Good day, amazing people of the Hive Blockchain. Welcome back to my blog. It is another edition in the #hivelearners community. I am so delighted to participate in this week's prompt all about the zoo.
A zoo is a place where animals are kept and taken care of. The main reason why these animals are being kept in a zoo is for public view. The zoo gives the opportunity to appreciate, learn about, and conserve the wildlife. Which is a means of entertainment to humans.
It will not be bad if the recreational park is in the zoo; people can go and see the animals and have an idea about the animals. The first time I explored the zoo was in my primary school. The moment my school principal announced that we were going for an excursion in the zoo, I was so excited because I had always been curious to see what a chimpanzee looked like. My favourite channel back then was wildlife; you can imagine how desperate I was to see these animals.
Getting to the zoo, the people in charge of the zoo tour us around the zoo, educating us. I was so happy that I embarked on that excursion, although I was scared at one point, but it was worth it.
Do you think that the wild animals are being exploited for human entertainment?
For me, I don’t think there is any other thing the zoo is created for if not for entertainment. Animals are kept there for people to explore and learn. I got to understand the importance of conservation after I visited the zone.
In most cases these animals are being exploited for human entertainment. The people that take care of these animals most times focus on the entertainment and forget about the welfare of the animals, which may lead to the poor living condition of the animals. I have gotten to understand that animals possess some similar characteristics as we humans.
Would they be better off in the wild?
Well, it is true that these animals are kept for conservation, which is nice. We go to the zoo to explore, learn, and research. I think it will be better if they are kept in the zoo for the safety of the humans. Just imagine that these wild animals enter a city; they will kill a lot of people.
I don’t buy the idea of freedom when it comes to wild animals; if it is within my power, holding them captive will be the best for me.
They are safer in the zoo; they are being fed and sheltered and also taken care of medically. For me these animals are better off in the zoo. These animals also generate money for the state.
Conclusion: regarding whether animals are better off in the wild or captive, we should focus on the welfare of these animals.
