Freedom of speech is one of the fundamental human rights. Every individual has the right to express themselves; it is a right that can never be taken from us. It is our right to always air our view or our opinions, but in most cases people are afraid to exercise their fundamental right.
Our voice is our strength to make it right. Our voice can put things in place, but when we are silent, we are not exercising that right. Don’t be afraid of expressing yourself; it is your right. It will be illegal for someone to deny your right to you.
Can our right to freedom of speech really be taken from us?
It is no longer a new thing in my country that people are afraid to express their fundamental human right. Our right to free speech has been taken from us. There is a probability that if you express your right, you may not live to tell the story. The citizens voices have been silent because if you talk, you will be hurt by the people on top. It's not as if the citizens don’t know what to say, but the fear of being hurt makes everyone decide to be silent. Due to fear, we forget that it is legal for us to express our rights. Looking at the way things are going in our country exercising this right, we are at our own risk. I don’t think that freedom of speech still exists. People decide to keep silent for their own safety.
Since the day that everyone has the right to freedom of speech, our voice should not be denied, no matter what is the case. I can remember the endsars protest, so many citizens lost their lives because they were trying to exercise their fundamental human right. The citizens were not happy about how the sars were treating them, and the citizens needed their voice to be heard. The citizens went for a protest so that the government could help us, but the outcome was bloody because many people were killed in the process. In my country, our right to freedom of speech is silent. After my experience during the endsars, I got to realise that our voice doesn’t matter in my country; our government can go any length to silence any voice that tries to speak. There are so many countries that the voice of the citizens is being heard. Citizens are so scared to voice out their minds.
Our voice, which is our strength, has been silent. I always feel pain that our rights have been denied and everyone is afraid of speaking up.
