Sip of black coffee,
Focused on deep work ahead,
Mind sharp, spirit high.
Hi CmmndrBawang here! It is our second day of making Haikus to document my life. Today (Saturday), I attended our cooperative general assembly. This is one of the proudest impulsive decisions that I made in life 😗. A cooperative is a busy owned by a group of members contributing to a shared capital that is distributed to big investments. Equity is then shared with a member, also the decision for the business to be invested in is decided by the members. It is an important meeting to work on so deep work is necessary -- The day is in a serious mode but that is not a day that a cup of coffee can't fix ☕️.
Part of our meeting was to elect new committee members to deal with certain aspects of our cooperative but the most important part of the meeting/assembly is the distribution of dividends 🤑🤑🤑. This is one of the passive sources of income that I am proud to have. I just need to monitor how the money of our cooperative runs and believe in the committee that we have voted for to take care of our investments.
I believe that most of us in the crypto world is, of course, most favorable to having passive sources of income but I also believe that in the HIVE community, there is also a huge number of people who are creative and passionate about writing blogs 📚.
The blogging aspect of HIVE is what cemented me in this blockchain. It reignited my passion for writing, however, it usually affects my tasks in my day job because it requires mental aptitude and time to actually produce a quality blog. In this fast pace society, it is a privileged and rare blessing for me to have free time in writing blogs.
There was a point when I actually ended up using AI to help write a blog and ended up being flagged as fraud. I use AI before to create an outline and prompt ideas for my blog structure. I was not fully aware that having lines closely linked to the text-generated response can trigger a bot that detects AI-written works. I admit that I made a mistake there and I am truly sorry to the HIVE community about that.
Now, I am an advocate of more original-human content. That is why I am improving my ways to do deep work, with that let me share with you some best practices that I found from research about deep work/learning.
- Remove sources of distraction near you. This follows the thought of Out of sight, out of might. Removing your gadgets that are necessary to your tasks really helps to stay away from the quicksand of social media scrolling or watching cat videos.
- Divide the tasks and separate them into chunks. With the fast pace society that we live in today, our brain functions are already exhausted with the process it undergoes. Make sure to have a reachable goal for a period of time and focus on one task at a time.
- Avoid Multitasking. Again our brain is too tired from the processes of the world, do not make it overwork. Finish the goal one step at a time.
- Follow the formula. High-Quality Work Produced = (Time Spent) x (Intensity of Focus). Maximize your time on the task that is in front of you by juicing out your brain with maximum results.
- Discover your own pace. Do not force yourself to work too, make sure that you are comfortable and you have met your basic needs first before diving into deep work. Always remember that health is always wealth.
- In whatever you do, make sure to give your 100%. To do it right, make sure that your task will be done without mistakes or have minimal revisions to follow. Time is important and not refillable so make sure to make the most out of it.
Deep work may seem hard because deep life is not for everybody, the improvements in technology made us more reliant on it and avoidant in doing deep tasks. The comfort that we have today is really hard to give up and the deep life demands you to break that comfort. But if you are willing to sacrifice comfort to achieve greater results, then you will discover rich productivity and meaning.
With that, I will end this by sharing my favorite productivity proverb.
To start is half the deed*
Reflective questions:
- What does it mean to engage in deep work?
- How can we find the motivation to tackle challenging tasks?
- What role do rituals like drinking coffee play in our productivity and focus?
Some famous quotes to ponder on:
"Amateurs sit and wait for inspiration, the rest of us just get up and go to work." - Stephen King
"The price of success is hard work, dedication to the job at hand, and the determination that whether we win or lose, we have applied the best of ourselves to the task at hand." - Vince Lombardi
"Drink coffee and do stupid things faster with more energy and stupider." - Unknown
Light Sharings
These are my favorite pica snacks when in deep mode. Peanuts are the way to go. Especially this brand, I really commend trying this.
While waiting for the meeting to start I started writing a few reflections related to this blog, I just forgot to plug in my laptop so my battery almost drained. I just find this photo funny because I actually left the laptop in the area where there is a reminder to not leave our things unattended.

Haiku Explanation
Haiku poems as short passages for my deep thoughts. In its short forms hides gigantic feelings one person can have. It is a form of Japanese poetry that consists of three lines, each line consisting of structured limited syllables. The first line and the third line contain five (5) syllables, while the second line only has seven (7).
With this series of Haiku poems, I aim to express myself and organize my thoughts while leaving the semi-hidden emotions that I have. I also want to practice being consistent by making short poems and logging my life experiences every day.
This is the start of countless tries of me trying to be productive and form a productive habit. This is also a form of escape from reality. I hope in this way I can funnel my thoughts and my feelings and establish a foundation of hope and unrelenting commitment.
