Technology has helped to make life easy and enjoyable for humans in so many ways: the health sector, education, and even business. With the help of this advanced technology, surgery is no longer 50/50, but most of them are now 70/30 survival.
Initially, to do heart surgery, there will be fear in the hearts of the person's relatives for his or her survival. But now with laser beams, some kind of heart disease can be cured without leaving a scar. The same laser beam is in use in eye surgery.
In education, it has made studying easy, and students don't need to trek miles to locate a library; every research can be carried out with their phones right in their house, hostel, or wherever they find themselves.
Inasmuch as I appreciate the advancement in technology, I think there are areas we should just put a stop to.
Would I get a memory chip in my brain?
The answer is a capital NO. It might be okay for some people. Although a memory chip in the brain will be beneficial or a blessing to people with brain diseases like Alzheimer’s disease or dementia. These illnesses rob individuals of their most treasured memories and strain their loved ones. With a brain chip, patients could retain their sense of identity, relationships, and independence. In this way, technology would not just be about advancement but also about restoring dignity and hope to millions.
But then the decision will not be an easy one, because allowing people to poke inside your brain doing trial and error. Because I'm sure some people's brains might not be able to carry it. Given that the brain is the most delicate and complex organ in the body, any little mistake its finish.
People that will accept this chip must have to think of the risks involved if the chip begins to malfunction, maybe because of excess information being loaded in it, because it must have a limit to what it will contain. Our natural brain doesn't store every piece of information; some get erased as we grow older. There was a reason for that.
If we are studying, overthinking and overstressing the brain trying to store so much information, most times we develop serious migraines that will result in our taking enough water and rest or taking medicine to calm it down.
Who controls it or accesses the chip? Because someone has to always check and maintain it, what if it's been hacked because boys are not smiling? It means blackmail will be much. I don't think I can deal with someone holding all my memory. It's like someone holding your life in their hand.
I will never be part of such an experiment. Furthermore, I don't trust anything that was not created by God especially for the brain. In fact, instead of that, I will rather start eating meals that will help my brain and memory, foods like vegetables that are rich in vitamin K; eggs (especially the yolk), which contain choline, which helps in developing brain memory; yogurt or milk that provides vitamin B and protein for brain cells to communicate; fish like salmon and mackerel that contain omega-3 fatty acids; and nuts like walnuts and almonds, which are packed with vitamin E.
The disadvantages of implanting a chip in one's brain is more than the advantage; I will leave it how it was created.
