One of the greatest powers we have as humans is the power of choice because whether a person becomes good or bad is solely determined by the choices made by them.

I had to bring out these Bible passages because, first, the way a person is trained up determines to a very large extent whether they become good or become a villain, as some people would say.
Family values and parental influence have a way of shaping people into what they become in life. I believe that it would be very rare to see that people who come from families with right values turn out to be bad people. This is as a result of the values they have been taught from childhood.
As humans, there are some behaviors that are naturally inborn, but it becomes the duty of parents to help children in their character formulation. For example, when a child is told not to put their hands on a candle flame because they are inquisitive, they tend to put their hands on that flame. The result is that they learn a bitter lesson because they are burnt.
Such a child would have learned that when they do something wrong, there are hurtful consequences, and so they would have learned a behavior from that.
On the contrary, when a child grows up in the wrong environment, they learn the behavior and things that they see in such environments and begin to manifest them in the same manner because that is what they have learned.
Usually between the ages of 0 and 10 years, a person's character would have formed but may not be solid because as they go to school with other kids and interact, they tend to pick up some little traits from their circle of friends.
Peer pressure begins to set in as a child grows and interacts with peers. They might find peers whose values contradict theirs, and if they have no strong foundation in their own values, they pick up other characters, which may be contrary to their initial upbringing.
This is why sometimes you find out that children who were properly brought up begin to form behaviors that are contrary to their upbringing and vice versa.
Sometimes, as well as people grow and are exposed to the world, they pick up some habits and characters, maybe due to the kind of work they do, places they go, and people they interact with. But a lot of times these traits are learned later in life, and then we can look at some of these people and say whether they are bad or not.
Other times a person's facial appearance might give off a wrong perception of them to the public, and you will never know if those people are truly good or bad until you have an encounter with them or meet someone who has encountered them.
Parenting can be very challenging, especially when you have to work to provide for the family, but besides provision, every parent owes it a duty and a responsibility to create time and an enabling environment to let their children share things with them.
Having personal family time with your kids can create an enabling environment wherebythey are able to share their personal plight. This way you get to know their challenges, which gives you as a parent the power to correct in love, advise, and command your children.
When a child is bad before they are addressed, fingers are first pointed to the family, so parents owe their kids the duty of preparing them to become good people for the betterment of the society.
