The rush of everyday life, precisely that routine in which you are practically automated and there is hardly any time left for yourself. Really living nowadays is a constant challenge. Everything is going by too quickly, until our way of consuming entertainment has changed and this could be one of the signs that our memory is becoming very heavy and the consequences of this are our forgetfulness.
I don't know about you, but lately I've been quite forgetful and the worst part is the simple things. For me it may be something that I can worry about, as my mother takes medication precisely because she is forgetting things very quickly. Fortunately, with these medications she improved a lot, but because she is already an elderly person, I have to pay more attention and care for my mother.
I remember my youth, when we only had landline at home and I even knew my friends' numbers. Over time, many things began to change, technological innovations arrived and today I only know my smartphone number, neither do I know my parents' or my wife's. Yes, this is terrible and I need to change this.
The Day We Went Out Power at Home
Like every mortal, I always pay the bills, I like to send proof of payment in a group I have on Whatsapp. It's a way to avoid the risk of leaving anything unpaid and then not having power or water cut off. Basically I write everything down, but there was a certain day when my family went through an unpleasant experience, suddenly the power in my house went out.
As we live in a gated community and sometimes this kind of thing happens, I waited until the power came back on, but a few hours had passed and I started to find it very strange. That was when I went to ask my neighbor if there was power at her house and to my surprise, it normally did and she told me that there was no power outage at her house.
So my wife and I tried to understand what was happening, as the most recent energy bill for the month had been paid. It was when someone from the condominium group said in private that Equatorial, the company responsible for energy distribution, had come to the condominium and had cut off all the houses that had outstanding debts.
At that moment I tried to look for the receipts every month to see if there was anything wrong and unfortunately there was. As I said before, I had paid for energy the current month, but the previous month I didn't pay and that's why Equatorial cut off the energy to my house. Because of my forgetfulness, my entire family had to go through a horrible experience.
I quickly tried to solve this problem, I managed to pay what was late, but when I tried to request the reconnection of my house, the employee on the phone told me that I would have to wait and that they would do it within a maximum of 24 hours. Imagine, it was already starting to get dark, my biggest concern was my daughter who was still only 1 year old and even then we had to wait.
The Pain of Guilt for Forgetting
I blamed myself for my forgetfulness. It's so sad to have to go through this, something that my wife and I have tried to avoid all my life. Internet, we can even go without for a while, but energy here in Brazil where there are regions where the heat at a certain time of year is terrible and not having at least one fan is too complicated.
We had to wait until 11 am the next day. They turned the power back on and after experiencing this problem, I decided to intensify my attention to prevent this from happening again. These are things in life that can unfortunately happen... But the worst is over and I learned my lesson.
The routine of our lives, no matter how much we try to do everything right, perhaps one thing can go unnoticed and in my case it was the energy bill at home. Fortunately this problem never happened again and I wouldn't want it to happen again.

A correria do dia a dia, justamente aquela rotina em que você está praticamente automatizado e quase não sobra um tempo só para você. Realmente viver hoje em dia é um desafio constante. Tudo está passando rápido demais, até que a nossa forma de consumir entretenimento mudou e isso pode ser um dos sinais de que nossa memória fique bastante pesada e as consequências disso está em nosso esquecimento.
Não sei você, mas eu ultimamente estou bastante esquecido e o pior são coisas até que simples. Para mim pode ser algo que eu possa me preocupar, pois minha mãe toma remédio justamente por ela está esquecendo as coisas bem rápido. Felizmente, com esses medicamentos ela melhorou bastante, mas por ela já ser uma pessoa idosa, eu tenho que ter mais atenção e cuidado com minha mãe.
Lembro da minha juventude, na época em que nós tínhamos só telefone fixo em casa e eu sabia até o número dos meus amigos. Ao longo do tempo, muita coisa começou a mudar, inovações tecnológicas chegaram e hoje eu apenas sei o número do meu smartphone, nem dos meus pais ou da minha esposa eu sei. Sim, isso é terrível e preciso mudar isso.
O Dia em que Faltou Energia em Casa
Como todo mortal, eu costumo sempre pagar as contas, gosto de enviar o comprovante de pagamento em um grupo que eu tenho no Whatsapp. É uma forma de não ter o risco de deixar nada sem pagar para depois não ter energia ou água cortada. Basicamente eu anoto tudo, mas teve um certo dia que minha família passou por uma experiência desagradável, de repente a energia em minha casa acabou.
Como a gente mora em um condomínio fechado e às vezes esse tipo de coisa acontece, eu esperei até a energia voltar, mas tinha se passado algumas horas e eu comecei a achar bem estranho. Foi quando eu fui perguntar para minha vizinha se não casa dela tinha energia e para minha surpresa, tinha normalmente e ela avisou que não tinha faltado na casa dela.
Então eu e minha esposa tentamos entender o que estava acontecendo, pois a conta mais recente de energia do mês tinha sido paga. Foi quando alguém do grupo do condomínio falou no meu privado que a Equatorial, empresa responsável pela distribuição de energia, havia vindo no condomínio e tinha cortado todas as casas que estavam com débito vencido.
Nesse momento tentei buscar todos os meses os comprovantes para ver se tinha algo de errado e infelizmente tinha. Como eu disse antes, eu havia pagado o mês atual a energia, mas no mês anterior eu não paguei e por isso a Equatorial cortou a energia de minha casa. Por causa do meu esquecimento, toda minha família teve que passar por uma experiência horrível.
Rapidamente tentei solucionar esse problema, consegui pagar o que estava atrasado, mas ao tentar pedir o religamento de minha casa, a funcionária pelo telefone me avisou que eu teria que esperar e que em no máximo 24 horas eles fariam isso. Imaginem, já estava começando a escurecer, minha preocupação maior era a minha filha que ainda tinha apenas 1 ano de idade e mesmo assim tivemos que esperar.
A Dor da Culpa Pelo Esquecimento
Eu me culpei pelo meu esquecimento. É tão triste ter que passar por isso, por uma coisa que durante toda minha vida eu e minha esposa tentamos evitar. Internet, a gente até consegue ficar um tempo sem, mas energia aqui no Brasil onde tem regiões que o calor numa determinada época do ano, é terrível e não ter ao menos um ventilador, é complicado demais.
Tivemos que esperar até às 11 horas da manhã do dia seguinte. Fizeram o religamento da energia e depois de passar por esse problema, decidi intensificar minha atenção para não deixar que isso possa acontecer novamente. São coisas da vida que podem acontecer infelizmente... Mas o pior já passou e aprendi a lição.
A rotina de nossa vida, por mais que a gente tente fazer tudo direito, talvez uma coisa possa passar despercebida e no meu caso foi a conta de energia de casa. Felizmente esse problema nunca mais aconteceu e não gostaria que isso se repetisse.
