The strange and loud sound got us all out of our routine. It was a little past 9 PM, the wind hurling with great fury, and we saw the disturbing light in the sky. Then we heard it-a bang, as though something large and heavy was hurled violently onto a surface.
We ran to see what had happened, and came to find it was not the whole tree, but a large, heavy branch that had broken off our beloved moringa tree. It damaged the shed too. Scary moment, but fortunately everyone is okay — what a relief.
This tree was more than just a tree, it was part of our family, in a way. We had used its leaves in our daily life, my mom would regularly make warm, healthy, moringa soup for all of us, and sometimes made delicious moringa sabzi too. We shared so many little moments under that tree were equally important to me. I still remember the joyous moments of gathering small moringa flowers of the tree.
Moringa trees are famous for their healing powers, but they can be fragile at times. I guess the wind was just too strong for that branching to hold. But I have faith that new leaves will sprout again from the broken limb, slowly. It will, once again, be green and alive.
I hope our Moringa tree will heal with time — the way hearts do after some pain.
