Hello and welcome to my page. I'm @daniky and here is my entry to the weekly featured content for week 12 edition 2 This post is in response to the question which states;
"Tell us a story about someone that started from scratch and worked hard until they made it. It must depict hard work and determination. Make the success all the sweeter."
It is often stated that "to become a man is not a day's job". This was the case with Smith. He hailed from a typical village at Ghana and had the privilege to school in one of the federal universities Nigeria. He wasn't born with silver spoon and was the first born in his household.
Before his emergence to Nigeria, he wasn't privileged to school in a private institution, he was at age 6 when he lost his dad and mum in a car crash. He was left with his 3 other siblings to cater for. Due to the fact that he was a little boy and not able to care for himself and his siblings, he decided to live with his uncle (late Dad's younger brother). The wife of the uncle was too hostile on Smith and his siblings. He make sure he took good care of Smith and his siblings till the moment his wife manipulated him against these innocent children.
Smith and his siblings dropped from school and no one could help cater for them but himself. He started engaging in menial jobs from age 8 and was able to use that to get an accomodation for himself and his siblings. He was able to send his siblings to school but he put his study on hold. 15years later his siblings were already graduate and were in notable positions in the labour market. The moment they started making huge money they forgot about Smith and moved on with their individual lifestyle. They became rich and where fully independent on smith, by then smith was already 30years of age. He only struggled to have his primary school leaving certificate and situations grew worse for him as he wasn't able to measure up with the current academic criteria and standards to be employed in the labour market as he is now hired for bigger work without renumeration. He was more like working for free just to be in the good books of some contractors. Fortunately for him, he was a good mechanic but the lack of proper education is just the impediment he has.
As time rolled over, he was well noticed for his practical professional experience and was hired by one of the topmost construction company in Nigeria. He was given an official car and house within the heart of Abuja. He now work with Julius Berger and he's one of their key road construction engineers today. Being in Abuja, he used the moment he has to upgrade himself academically. Today, Smith is about 40years age and a fresh graduate of the University of Abuja. Today his siblings are trying all means to associate with him since they discover his new status as a civil engineer. Little did they know he's also a multimillionaire. The case is currently going on till this date.
