This particular nickname of a thing made me remember my childhood, everyone is now grown up and actually acts mature but I miss those days though. I have a lot of nicknames and one of them was a result of people being unable to pronounce my name despite being a Yoruba boy and staying among Yoruba people.
Picture is mine
If it was left to me, attending the so call public school was one of my childhood dreams but my mom was always against it and all her reason was it corrupted a lot of kids into different like joining bad gangs and stuff but my private school was more of a public school or should I say my class had all attribute of a public school, it was always a fair day to come to school and we don't get punished on the assembly line because we know we are definitely going to be punished in the class, a lot of bad behaviour from giving our teachers Nickname, to bunking classes, to destroying school properties, not going to call teachers for their period, to have a fix right after school hours and a lot of other things, we also started giving teacher's name according to mistake or the way they dress, I could remember we called our Yoruba teacher Oracle because she was short, fat and dark, God forgive us but this same class was also where you find the good side of everything.
I got to this school and it was the first time, my name would be pronounced wrongly, my full name is ADEDAPOMOLA which means 'CROWN MIX WITH WEALTH' but due to many alphabets and people not being able to pronounce it, I either use ADEDAPO or DAPOMOLA everywhere I go even on my official documents but when I started attending this school after a month of constantly correcting people I started using DAPO which means "MIX". When I was asked to Introduce myself to the class on my first day in the school, I said name and the first who was going to pronounce it said it wrongly, instead of the DAPOMOLA which means MIX WITH WEALTH' she pronounced it as DAPO MOLA which means MIX with the name they call the Hausa tribes MOLA, I tried correcting people until I got tired and the funny thing was that the name overshadowed my name and the whole school including my teacher and proprietor started calling me that and the name didn't stop there, even my mom sometimes teases me at home with the name and I accepted my fate.
My thought was after we leave school, people would forget about it not until 2 years after my graduation and I went back to school to get a certificate and a junior student saw me and called me senior MOLA, it was then I finally accepted my fate and even when I entered the staff room, it was the same thing the teachers called me. MOLA, how are you? And I had no choice but to reply.
I just started thinking about it maybe I should make that name my brand name? And I never thought about that till now which I also need you guys help to help me decide if that name can actually sell the market.
The only preacher of love is here again, enjoy your weeken
