The very first time I heard about massive Inflation in my country was in 2010, though there was inflation on certain foods at a certain time and they are influenced by the season. Kerosene for instance used to experience inflation when it is time for the yearly Hajj.
2010 inflation was the first I experience that really affected everything but did I really got affected as a person? No I didn't because I wasn't the one feeding myself and I was still eating three square meals. The only time I know I would get scolded during that time was if I wasted mom's food or I didn't buy exactly like she asked if I was sent on an errand.
I and my childhood friends argued about scarcity and the particular thing that led to inflation a lot not knowing that what we saw then was nothing compared to what the future had in store for us. We blamed the government for their incompetence and somehow, the present government has made the old government look exceptional.
Do you know that adage that says, you don't know how it feels until you experience it, that stuff is actually very true because fast forward to the future after I started to feed myself. Everything was going okay base on what I was earning and the fair market price. Even during the lockdown, the inflation didn't hit as much as it does last year till date because maybe that time we only had to worry about food, there was no paying kid's school fees and some other bills because almost everything was shut down.
I think the one I still remember vividly was the inflation that started last year and still hasn't gone back to normal, every piece of whatever it is in the market increases every day. I mean imagine you go to market yesterday to get something of #2000 and today you go back to get that same thing and you are to pay #3000, at first it all started with laughter but it didn't take time before it became frustrating and it went on gradually to a point whereby our money begins to lose it value. Now you need 3 times the money you use before to make a pot soup and that's not the most annoying part.
The most annoying part is that the wages or salary of workers hasn't increasedid which leaves every salary earner in a crucial point of decision making and this how I have been managing the ongoing inflation
I stick to 2 square meal, I take my priorities first and I had to look for more side hustle that would enable me meet up my bills even with the fact that my needs and wants as been put on hold. Just have to ration everything even if it makes me feel uncomfortable, there is less or no partying because that money would actually sort out something important and praying to God to please put everything back in order because if this continues it will actually be the life span of many humans.
Don't forget to still spread love and peace always
