While I was struggling to sleep last night, something that happened a few days back popped into my memory so I thought I should share it with us.
I received a message from a friend on behalf of someone I don't know and have never met. He wanted the lyrics of a song I wrote that was recorded years ago by an amazing group of acapella voices (God's Choir), a song I haven't sang in so long.

Apparently, this guy who needed the lyrics of the song, actually loves this song so much that he formulated his own lyrics for the melody he only heard in passing. I was so eager to please this guy that I started going through my notes and my phone just to get the lyrics since I was actually finding it difficult remembering them.
Going through my notes and phone, I started seeing many old songs and poetry I didn't remember writing. I have not even published the poetry or performed these songs before, yet I couldn't see the one I was looking for.
I then recalled that this was not even the phone I was using when I wrote that song, so I decided to try and record the song just to see if I can manage to remember the lyrics.
Surprisingly, as I was recording the song, I found out that I was singing the lyrics in reflex style with up to 99% accuracy. I decided to write down the lyrics for the guy should he not be able to hear the lyrics perfectly from the recording because of my catarrh-influenced voice.
Here was his response;
I'm glad to have the original version of this song on my phone. Your work is very good and unique I must confess. I'm actually not the type of person that hypes anyone. To be honest, I really loved it when I heard the way you sang the song, it was just so perfect and superb. I'm a huge fan and I hope someday we could meet to have a collaboration. God bless you.
These words made so much difference in my life that day, and there and then I reaffirmed a few facts:
Every action one takes is a seed that has the potential to influence beyond the scope of one's imagination.
Whatever you send into the world would return to you in great measure over consistent periods of time.
Music, poetry and art in general lingers more than I assumed.
Never underestimate the potential of a little good or a little bad.
Sadly, I have been away from music for so long that I forgot how soothing it was to me too. There was a time when I couldn't go a day without writing a lyrics, but the hustling and bustling of life took over. I think it's hard time I reignited the zeal for music which I once had. Don't you think so?
To know people out there are blessed by the words & melody God had placed in my heart has a reigniting effect that I don't think I'll want to quench again.
