1. Cuéntenos su experiencia con la contaminación acústica
Cuando ví de qué trataba el tema de esta semana me dije: Esto está hecho para mí.
En el sitio donde vivo actualmente, como le comentaba a un amigo, hay un eco increíble.
Tanto así que, en un momento dado, me puse a cantar en un cuarto y, créanme, no tengo una voz fuerte. Basta con intentar hablar en voz alta durante unos minutos para ponerme ronca y perder la voz. Pero... Me estaban escuchando, y los vecinos se pusieron a gritarme cosas.
"Desde entonces, cuenta la leyenda que Daniela no ha vuelto a cantar". 🤣
Debido a este tema del eco, puedo escuchar conversaciones que pasan a varios metros, en voz baja, bastante bien.
Para completar, la cultura del venezolano es ser gritón, diría yo.
La mayoría de las veces que pasa alguien por la calle frente a mi casa, todos aquí nos enteramos. Sea una carretilla, gente conversando, niños llorando...
Ah, hablando de niños llorando. Yo no entiendo cómo soporta una garganta tan pequeña un sonido tan intenso.
La solución de su madre es gritarle de vuelta para que se calle, y no, esto no es un caso aislado.
Por aquí hay muchas personas desconsideradas que tienen cajones de sonido, y por supuesto que necesitan compartir su música con los vecinos.
Es algo gracioso, sin embargo. Por la tarde, ponen música degradante y por la mañana ponen música "cristiana"...
¿Cómo me afecta?
La primera y la más dolorosa es que es un distractor realmente insoportable para mí.
Generalmente necesito concentración para mis estudios o el trabajo, pero el silencio no es algo que puedo esperar aquí.
Grabar un video es todo un reto. Por eso, normalmente, no subo videos usando mi voz a Hive: es demasiado difícil suprimir el ruido de fondo, y muy frustrante llevar 20 repeticiones del mismo monólogo para que el señor que vende los plátanos grite justo cuando vas terminando.
El vecino de justo al lado hace un trabajo que requiere usar una máquina que suena... como si estuviera abriendo un hoyo al centro de la tierra. 🥴
Dormir es un reto, por supuesto.
Pueden ser las 7 pm, y hay cultos o música fuerte.
Las 10 pm es una hora de tranquilidad, pero siempre pasa gente en grupo, aparentemente alcoholizados, especialmente los viernes o sábados, formando alboroto.
Son las 2 am, y pasa un grupo de muchachos riéndose o alguien arrastrando una lámina de zinc... Eso es otro tema.
¿Cómo lidio con esto?
Mis grandes aliados han sido el ruido blanco o rosa, y los sonidos binaurales.
El ruido rosa es algo parecido al sonido de la lluvia, que opaca los sonidos fuertes y repentinos. Es increíble cuánto ayuda, especialmente cuando se está estresado.
Los sonidos binaurales, como el alfa, son frecuencias que ayudan al cerebro a entrar en diferentes estados.
El alfa, específicamente, me ha ayudado bastante a lo que es la concentración. Tiendo a desviarme, especialmente durante el proceso creativo o cuando no sé exactamente cómo hacer algo.
Se los recomiendo.

¿When I saw what this week's topic was about, I said to myself: This is made for me.
Where I live now, as I was telling a friend, there is an incredible echo.
So much so that, at one point, I started singing in a room and, believe me, I don't have a strong voice. It's enough to try to speak loudly for a few minutes to make me hoarse and lose my voice. But... They were listening to me, and the neighbors started yelling things at me.
"Since then, legend has it that Daniela has never sung again." 🤣
Because of this echo issue, I can hear conversations passing several meters away, in a low voice, quite well.
To top it off, the culture of the Venezuelan is to be loud, I would say.
Most of the time when someone passes by on the street in front of my house, everyone here hears. Whether it's a wheelbarrow, people talking, children crying....
Ah, speaking of crying children. I don't understand how such a small throat can stand such an intense sound.
His mother's solution is to yell back at him to shut up, and no, this is not an isolated case.
Around here there are many inconsiderate people who have sound boxes, and of course they need to share their music with the neighbors.
It's kind of funny, though. In the evening, they play degrading music and in the morning they play "Christian" music?
How does it affect me?
The first and most painful is that it is a really unbearable distractor for me.
I usually need concentration for my studies or work, but silence is not something I can expect here.
Recording a video is quite a challenge. That's why I usually don't upload videos using my voice to Hive: it's too difficult to suppress background noise, and too frustrating to carry 20 repetitions of the same monologue only to have the man selling the bananas yell just as you're finishing.
The neighbor right next door does a job that requires using a machine that sounds... like he's opening a hole to the center of the earth. 🥴
Sleep is a challenge, of course.
It can be 7 pm, and there are cults or loud music.
10 pm is a quiet hour, but there are always people passing by in groups, apparently alcoholic, especially on Fridays or Saturdays, making a ruckus.
It's 2 am, and a group of boys laughing or someone dragging a sheet of zinc.... That's another issue.
How do I deal with this?
My great allies have been white or pink noise, and binaural sounds.
Pink noise is something like the sound of rain, which dulls sudden loud sounds. It is amazing how much it helps, especially when stressed.
Binaural sounds, like alpha, are frequencies that help the brain go into different states.
Alpha, specifically, has helped me quite a bit with concentration. I tend to get sidetracked, especially during the creative process or when I don't know exactly how to do something.
I recommend it.
