In my previous blogs, I shared how I was a ghostwriter before joining Hive. In those stories, we talked about my ghostwriting experience on a blogging site when I was 12. The whole point of ghostwriting is being anonymous. This gave me a lot of freedom to talk about critical issues and social norms.
Today, I am going to share a dark story with you. Yes, life is not always a bed of roses. Most of the people's first earning stories are fun. My story is about where I was taken advantage of at the age of 8. (Just for the story I am going to name him "Faraz", His real name is different).
It was our summer vocations in 2008. On one of the last days, before our vocations starts, My class fellow Faraz came to me and told me about his hand injury. I felt bad about his condition. Faraz told me that He needs someone to do his summer vocations and since I am not going anywhere this summer He thinks I can help him.
He gave me an offer that I can't refuse. Faraz exploited my love for Pokémon cards. He showed me a rare collection of Pokémon cards which he wanted to sell for 50 Pakistani Rupees (Currently 0.25$). How can I say no to the Gold Foil Charizard?
The only thing which was between me and my Pokémon cards was only 50 pages of math's summer vocations homework, some other minor essay Writing and more. A ghostwriter is someone who writes anonymously and promises to never take credit for the work he does. In this case, I can't let the teacher know about the reality(till today teacher is unaware of who wrote).
After 2 months of vocations (June and July), it was time for #back2school. Faraz was in touch with me making sure that I will complete his work too and I did. There was no 0.25$ involved, I directly asked for the Pokémon cards collection which we arranged on. I can finally keep that Gold Foil Charizard.
Here comes an entry of a new character PREFECT (a student who is responsible for discipline among students). Faraz gave me cards before 15 mins of school time and I bought them to school while keeping them in the bag and decided to not share them with anyone. Only Faraz and I were aware that I have a rare Pokémon card collected in my bag (10 cards accurately).
It was a time for a lunch break. We all went to the ground and finished our food. After 15 mins of a break when I came back what I saw was PREFECT holding my Pokémon cards in front of the teacher. My teacher, PREFECT and Faraz were having a conversation while I sat down on my chair. The teacher told PREFECT to throw them in the dustbin while he secretly hides them in his pocket. I got a bit suspicious but said nothing. I also saw PREFECT and Faraz having a conversation while the teacher started teaching. Little did I know, Faraz plotted to give me nothing for my work.
I went to the dustbin for sharpening my pencil and quickly found out that cards were never thrown into the dustbin. I requested my teacher to explain to me the action she took against me or I am going to the principal's office. The teacher soon understood a little bit of the situation and found cards in PREFECT's pocket. It was crystal clear that PREFECT misused his respected authority.
I was uncertain about the future of cards so I told my teacher that I wanna rip them and throw them myself. To me, justice was served but Universe had a greater plan for me. After 4-6 months our exams started and I got 100 out of 100 marks in MATHEMATICS maybe because I did my summer vocations homework of maths 2 times?
Please let me know, what are your thoughts about my actions, Faraz, PREFECT and teacher?
