A Fresh Take on Zombies
I recently watched this anime, and after finishing it, I realized it showed something way different from what I expected in a zombie theme. Normally, when we think of zombies, we picture a survival story full of tension and fear. But here, the main character Akira stays super chill through it all.
Akira's Happy Reaction to the Apocalypse
Akira is fed up with his office routine because he has been stuck in a toxic work environment for the last three years. When he learns the zombie apocalypse has begun, he does not get scared at all. Instead, he gets really excited. It feels just like that when you work in a toxic place, and for him, it is like getting his first day off after three years.
Living Fully Before the End
It is not like he ignores the fact that he could die any time. But he thinks, if he is going to die from this zombie outbreak anyway, why not make the most of the days he has left? Since he has not had any real breaks in so long, this is his chance to chase happiness and enjoy life openly.
The Surprising Chill Hero
Just picture this surprise: you pick what you think is a zombie survival flick, but when you start it, your hero Akira is this laid-back guy having fun because everything in stores is free now. He wanders around carefree, and he even has a diary with a bucket list of things to do before he dies. He checks them off one by one, living out all his dreams.

Different from Other Sad Stories
This stands out from themes like in 'I Want to Eat Your Pancreas', where people face death out of their control and it feels forced. Here, the hero is chill and could die from risks anytime, but he has no fear. He was so burned out from his old life that now he lives freely. He does not bother saving himself much, at least not for his own sake. He just wants to have fun and enjoy.
Friends Who Bond in Chaos
There are other characters too, like his buddy who acted fake before the apocalypse, pretending his job was great when he was actually miserable. After the outbreak, they become real friends and share everything honestly from the heart.
The Girl Who Chooses Love Over Money
Then there is the daughter of a CEO, whose dad always taught her to focus on money and kept love away. But with the zombies out, she starts valuing love more than cash and lives on her own terms.
Everyone Makes It Fun, Not Scary
You could say every character turns the apocalypse into something chill instead of stressful. Sure, fights happen now and then, but even those are enjoyable to watch because of their relaxed vibe.

Comparing to Naruto's Villains
If I compare it a little to Naruto, there was Pain's group who turned villain because of painful past memories. They had strong backstories and felt like broken heroes that fans loved. Here, there is a similar group, but not exactly the same. These villains are just bad due to childish or narcissistic ways, or not getting themselves and others. The zombies make their evil worse. I doubt fans would love these human villains, though some might see a bit of themselves in them and feel strong hate. Heartbreak from life events out of control is one thing, but turning villain because you are a bad person who could not handle life does not make fans care.
Back Home and Family Moments
Our hero Akira, who never balanced work and life, finally gets to his village. There, he does nature activities, connecting deeply, just like I wanna do. He meets his elderly parents who always worried about him but never showed it. I loved watching Akira and his dad's behavior; their chemistry is so strong.
Why I Recommend It Fully
This anime has so many great moments that I suggest it to everyone with a 10 out of 10. Plus, it does not have 500 or 600 episodes to drag on forever. Now, tell me in the comments: if the world turned into zombies, what would you do? Would you worry, get anxious for your loved ones, and try to protect them? Or would you chill like our hero and just have fun?
