Hi everyone
@drceeyou here.
This is my entry for the Week 07:- Edition 01 of the hive learners weekly featured content.
[made using Spark post]
The task here is to talk about my hobbies. And for me, that's one hell of a task. And the reason is simple. But before I tell you about why it's such a difficult task for me, let me tell you a little about myself.

You see, I grew up with a notion, a perspective that incorporates the idea that everyone must have a favorite color, a favorite food, a favorite drink or hobbies. For a long time I tried to have a favorite sport. I decided to begin with the most popular sport in the world, soccer or football. I played without boots in those days and I had so many injuries I decided that it was too dangerous to play football.
My fears were compounded by stories of footballers with hamstring injuries, tear to their ligaments, and all sorts. One day I heard that a footballer tore a muscle. I was in shock. That was the straw that broke the Carmel's back.
Since then, I have ventured in various sports or past time activities but none of them stuck. It was always one circumstance leading to another and subsequently pulling me out of the game.
So, do I now have a hobby at last? Yes I do. But before I tell you what it is, see how dictionary.com defines the word.
.noun, plural hobbies.
an activity or interest pursued for pleasure or relaxation and not as a main occupation:
That's a perfect definition, dont you think?
So, following that definition of hobbies, I can say that my hobbies have changed almost a thousand times. And I don't know if I would have a lifetime hobby like some people.
The one thing I like doing for pleasure and relaxation is watching a good movie.
There was a time I considered movies a waste of time and to be fair, there are movies that are a complete extirpation of precious time. But there are good ones. Watching good movies has this insane dopaminergic effect that makes it feel like you are in another world entirely. More importantly, good movies are an avenue to broaden my mind and perspective regarding a lot of life issues.

For instance, many people find it difficult to keep their cool when a problem arises. Most people just panic and begin to make stupid decisions governed by their current emotions. I have learnt through observing people in movies to be a calm calculated individual who doesn't react impulsively but considers his emotions and the actions he desires to take.
Let me say it differently, I learnt emotional self control by observing movie characters and emulating or shunning their behavior. Another important lesson I have learnt from movies is to read people. It's a very very important skill that I believe everyone should have. Most people act oblivious of the reactions, expressions and disposition of the individual right in front of them.
I remember I had at least a 5% boost in my powers of observation and deduction after watching the Sherlock Holmes series for the first time.

Most times, in seeing a movie I feel like I am looking into the mind of the producer, or whoever came up with the story. A good story always keeps me on the edge of my seat. And one good example is the story of the blacklist. I still can't get over the twists and turns and the mind games. They still fill me with thrill every time I think about them. I would like to give examples, but some people are really not down for spoilers.
I am currently seeing a series titled DC legends of tomorrow. Its a series about travelling in time. A group of "sups" get together to stop the world from total annihilation. I will say no more... In case you don't like spoilers. But for me, I find that spoilers are a very vital part of enjoying a movie for me. I love to know what's about to happen. I am not a fan of suspense, it has this uneasy feeling of being out of control that irks me.

Besides, I hate sitting down to watch a movie and then discover that I only wasted my time on a useless movie. Spoilers help me know if a movie is going to be worth my time, if it is going to help me learn and ultimately if it would be pleasurable.
That's my hobby...( I don't know why I feel like typing "hubby" every time I want to type "hobby": Lord are you saying something?๐)
