As we become adults, we start to feel the weight of responsibilities and the vicissitudes of life starts to weigh us down. Some become depressed, others stressed and if not managed well develop into severe conditions. To have a healthy life, one needs to know how best to manage or cope with stress on a daily basis. Sometimes the imaginary hope or prospect that the future will be better has helped many strive on without giving up. Tonight, I'll be sharing with you my personal ways of coping or managing with Stress. As long as one is an adult, he surely has had tough moments or moments he felt drained from everything that is happening around him. Stress is defined by English dictionary as;
to worry or be agitated.
FOUR WAYS I MANAGE STRESS
1.SLEEP
Most times I prefer to just take some hours of rest after a stressful day or when I feel drained and my brain can't think of something reasonable out of a situation. Sleeping for an hour or two most often helps me feel relaxed and composed. I can't explain the physiology behind sleeping, but I believe it helps relax the tensed nerve and allow flow of blood to enable the central nervous system to coordinate the activities of the body properly.
2.GO AWAY TO A QUIET PLACE
Staying away from everyone to a quiet place is one of the ways I manage stress. It's as if leaving my troubles, pains, falls, etc. Behind and having a new life where all my past and struggles are buried. I have gone to the top of a mountain, sat there alone and watched the birds chirp and fly, somehow it brings healing to my soul and once again, I go home renewed and refreshed.
3.HANG OUT WITH FRIENDS
It becomes a thing of a joke when I sit among friends and talk about life. Most often we realize we are all facing the same situation and somehow it eases my spirit that I'm not alone. We always end the discussion with inspiring talks of a brighter future as we play games, take some drinks, or swim. Just hanging out with friends makes life a bit bright and soon all depression is gone.
4.TALK TO SOMEONE
One of the things that boost stress and depression is loneliness or being insulated from people. Talking with others about my current struggles helps me feel relaxed with the encouraging words that come from them. When I feel I'm passing through a lot in a moment, I share it with a friend. There's a proverb that says;
A problem shared is half solved.
This works for me also.
