So I decided to give reunion a try in the year 2020. It was a hard thing for me to do being the introverted kind of guy who isn't cool with crowds. There's this joy I feel in being alone and it seems as if I'm losing out each time I leave that cozy room of mine for some social events. A year after my college, some group of people (who were my classmates)took it upon themselves to create a platform where we talked and gradually initiated a reunion which was designed to hold every year. I never participated in any of the held reunions until the year 2020. A friend of mine who wanted to see me again after a long time convinced me to come.
I didn't expect anything, but I ensured I looked my best not sure on how the event will turn out to be. The reunion was scheduled for two days, and it was to take place in a town not far from where I stay. The first day was a scheduled football match with a football team from that town against the students coming for the reunion, then the second day was the reunion proper. The excos in charge of the reunion activities did their best in providing accommodations and making arrangements for what we ate the first day.. meeting with friends once again was awesome, indeed there were a lot of changes that had taken place over time.
We graduated in 2011, but I attended the 2020 reunion, nine years from the time. Among us were those who had succeeded and a few others who were still struggling to make a living. Some had graduated from high school, while a few others had applied for their masters, some of us were already working and others were applicants. The line is, there were notable differences physically and in the aspect of career. The day started with setting up the venue the reunion was to hold, it was fun chatting with long time friends as we worked together. The music in the background kept lighting up the place as we talked and laughed.
Meeting with friends was enough fun. The event started with an introduction and reminded each other of our popular role in school. People still remembered me as the shy type and that made me chuckle. The environment was friendly as we shared meals on a large table and took photos after the reunion was over. The fun I had only made me realize how much I have been missing hiding myself indoors. I told myself I was going to come for more reunions, it's good to leave our shell sometimes and experience a different side of our personalities.
