My Hive Goals For This Year
2023 was such a tough year, things were so difficult that I thought I was not getting anywhere near my set goals, but I refused to give up, I kept giving it my best shot and I was surprised that I was able to achieve some of them even beyond what I expected.
That is the relevance of setting goals, it gives one the consciousness of the task ahead, thus, making the person work hard to get them done. People who set goals never lose completely, in most cases, even if they don't get where they hoped to reach, they end up being very close.
Goals help one know where he or she is headed in whatever they are pursuing in life. I got to know how important setting goals is last year through the Hive learners community, I owe them a lot of thanks, how I wished I had known it earlier on, Nevertheless, they say "It is better late than never."
For this year, here are my goals:
1 Hive Power: I had so many financial challenges last year, that I couldn't build my power up, in fact, it got to a point where I had to power down. I was so hurt about it but, I had no option. I needed it to get a new phone. This year, I am trusting God to see me through, I am hoping to have 2500 Hive power before the year runs out.
I know that's not going to be that easy but it is achievable, it will only require me to work harder than I did the last time. I will have to be very serious with engagement, improve my content, explore different communities, and also start powering up often.
2 . Engagement: last year was so sweet, especially when I came across Dreemport, my engagement on Hive drastically improved, and I was so excited about it. Through that, I met different people who turned into family.
Engagement is the sweetest part of this wonderful Blockchain, although sometimes one feels too lazy to do it but seriously it's fun. This year, I want to do even more on my engagement both on Hive and on X ( formerly known as Twitter), every day, I want to engage on at least 10 posts on Hive. By the end of the year, I should be having at least three new friends. I mean friends, not just casual followers.
3 . Followers: this one is attached to engagement, the more you engage, the more followers you get. Earlier last year my followers were just fifty-plus. Whenever I checked other's profiles, I saw thousands of followers and I was like how? When will I even get a hundred followers? Well, before the year ran out, I was at it. And it was through engagement.
This year, I want to be more intentional about that, I want to at least have 200 or 300 followers by the end of the year. I know you may ask what's the relevance of having many followers? What do they contribute? Well, they may not contribute anything but it speaks well about you.
Part of what it says is, "Your posts are good, you are very good at engaging with the posts of others," and so on. In general, having many followers means you know what you are doing, because obviously if you are not doing well, no one will follow you. So you see, it's not useless like people think. It's a good name, and the wise say, "A good name is better than gold and silver"
4 . Content creation: I won't want to improve my content, I want to give my readers something appealing, and void of errors. I want my readers to be blessed after reading my posts, I don't like empty posts, I know how it feels when I read them. So, if I don't want bad posts from others, mine too shouldn't be bad.
I also want to post at least once every day through the week, that is from Monday to Sunday. I have been doing it sometime last year but I stopped a few weeks ago. I want to resume it. You don't know how excited I get whenever I get those sweet buzzy bee notifications from Hive Buzz.
5 . Reputation: to date, I don't know how reputation increases, is it by the number of people that voted your post or by the number of Hive power one has? I don't know. But I know it is so sweet seeing people with 70 reputations and above.
I really admire it. The thing is, I have one perception about people with higher reputations, which is; that the person has stayed long on the chain and is really improving. In other words, it's telling you, this person is not a novice, In case you have any problem, you can meet him or her and you can trust the fact that you can learn something through their posts.
So, by the end of this year, I am hoping to have at least 72 or 73 reputations, it's small, right? The thing is I noticed reputation doesn't move fast when it reaches 68 to 70 upward.
To achieve all these goals I need to be hardworking, determined, and resilient. I have to do times two of whatever I did last year, which I know is possible with the help of God. I know I might encounter a lot of challenges on the way, but I trust God to help me overcome them all. Moreover, there are always obstacles on the way to climbing a mountain.
