The Journey Of Education
Education is one of the most important things in our lives. Most of the transformation we see in the world today came as a result of education, there were days when people hated each other for being this color or that color, for being this tribe or that tribe but education has been effortlessly tackling that in ways we can not explain recently.
Nowadays, people from different cultures and different backgrounds can sit in the same classroom and learn together, isn't that a beautiful thing? Gradually we understand that we ought to be one and not enemies, Subjects like civic education and a few others often emphasize how to make peace and live in unity. You may not really see it from my own perspective but education has really helped mankind.
One of the misconceptions that many have about education is that when you go to school, you are automatically entitled to a job, at the end of the day, if this so-called hope refuses to go as planned, people begin to see school as a form of deception. Education is only the key to success, it is not success on Its own. you may have a key to a house but you don't expect it to open every door inside.
This why I always advise people to learn skills while going to school, or as they find opportunity because nothing is guaranteed in life anymore.
What Level Of Education Am I At Currently?
My current level of education is Nigeria Certificate In Education (NCE). It is something I had never planned for in my life. They say "We make plans but God has the final say" Heheh. I used to despise it back then but recently, I appreciate God for the opportunity. It's a very small level of Education, yes, but some individuals never got the privilege to write even Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSCE).
One thing I have been working on myself recently is learning how to be grateful for even the little things I have, you wouldn't know how fortunate you are until you hear the story of someone out there.
Would You Go Further?
Yes, of course, NCE is just like pre-nursery nowadays. Sometimes I feel ashamed to talk about my qualifications LoL. People are going to school, there were days when a Degree was the deal of the day, if you have a degree, you are a chief lol. That era came and passed, and recently, it's a doctorate degree, if am not mistaken. Education is endless, sometimes we just do the ones we can and leave the rest.
I really love education I won't lie, I have even made attempts to further around 2019 but something came up and it scattered my plans. Hopefully this year or next, if God permits ( make resources available) I will further.
What Field?
I hated educational courses so much while I was in high school, I didn't like teaching at all, I wanted to be a medical doctor hehe, but fate happened and things changed. Today am in love with teaching. Not necessarily in classrooms, once I know something very well, I just feel like educating someone else on it.
I studied Biology/Geography, if I am furthering, I would go for Biology education. I have been a lover of biology for a long, it's one course I understand easily without stressing my head.
Biology is already my course, and NCE is solely education, so it's just like building on the foundation that has already been laid. It will upgrade me in my career. But you know I am not even so concerned about that because in Nigeria, what you study is rarely important. If you have connections, you can work anywhere. These days I came to understand that working is mostly about experience not even about what you learned in school.
Well, I can't tell whether furthering my education will make any difference in my life or not, it's almost the same thing, in the end, you become a graduate and that is it, you go back to the labor market again. The only difference might be, that I have acquired more knowledge in my field and obtained a higher certificate for future use, as it is fondly said.
