We are Almost Getting Use To It
The issue of insecurity is alarming everywhere in the world. Few days ago I turned my radio on to listen to news and the first thing I heard from the broadcaster caught my attention. The lady said "security is the responsibility of everyone and not the government or security bodies alone". as funny as that may sound, it is the plain truth.
If we say we are going to rely on the government or security agencies to provide safety for us we would be shamed at the end of the day because they are ordinary people like us and themselves are also looking for security. Even police officers get robbed, kidnapped or killed the way civilians experience. We just have to be at alert individually and by so doing, we will fight these crimes together.
When you see something you don't seem to be comfortable with, report to the police. if you can't, let your community leader know about it, don't just keep mute, if you are in a place you sense danger around, don't hesitate to leave. Our security is our responsibility. We are in the days where everyone is looking out for themselves, If you place that duty in the hands of another person because he/she is trained and has a gun you would be in danger of getting yourself harmed.
The issue of kidnapping is rampart now, I remember while I was yet a teenager, the only place I hear about kidnapping is on television but today it's everywhere. Some weeks ago my town has been placed on curfew because of the prevalent kidnapping activity.
A lot of people have fallen victim and some are still experiencing it. We are only allowed to move around from day break until 9:00 PM after which, if you are caught outside you have yourself to blame for anytime that happens to you.
The curfew has though reduced the crime, but I have not heard of any kidnapper being caught yet . My problem is, for how long will the curfew continue? When it eventually stops, don't you think this villains will return? The soldiers in charge of the curfew had beaten about two innocent people to death because of violating the order already. My concern is, they have not yet caught any kidnapper but two innocent people are death, is that a gain or loss to the community? Well I bet the government knows what they are doing.
I am not really saying the idea of the curfew is bad but it shouldn't involve a kind of beating that would end life, that is mean. On the other hand, the people too needs to adhere to simple instructions. This life is very fragile and once it's gone, it can't be brought back. I feel sorry for them. There are a lot of bad testimonies about this curfew but we are hoping on God for things to get better.
Hardship has made a lot of people lost their minds, they can do anything to get money inorder to survive and keep to trends, please we must be very careful so that we don't fall victims of this wicked individuals. Recently, it's trending in one local government close to mine that some young men are using spiritual powers to steal manhood. It first started in our state capital now it's in the neigboring local government, who knows where is next?
No where is safe anymore, don't take anything casually now, when you sense and usual movement, anywhere question it. When a person seems to be giving you strange moves confront him/her. It's better to get clarified than to be quiet and fall a victim of circumstance.
It is a normal thing in my town to hear of people being stabbed in the night to get their phones and bike men being killed for their bikes, that's why most of the bikes charge high at night. Moving in the night here is very unsafe, especially if you are alone.
I visited my mom yesterday and a guy was there lamenting , he said "he borrowed his friend's bike to work and didn't return it. His plan was to take it back the next day, because it was raining that evening and the rain continued until day break. The next morning he went to the store to pick the bike and behold it was not there". The world has turned into something. We pray it gets better soon. Please be very watchful, be vigilant. Don't sleep like a baby anymore but like a soldier.
