I felt bad for those dwelling there because personally, I hate heat to the core. Before I wrote this post, I decided to do some research about the temperature to see if it really hit 34c or not and my research said the temperature for Monday over there was 21c. I am not certain how true it is but I think that can be managed. I hope it drops soon.
The weather this year in my place is weird. The heat we experienced sometime early this year was so unusual. It was as if someone had opened the windows of hell to discharge some heat.
The power supply was poor and even when there was electricity, one couldn't even tell whether the fan was blowing air or adding heat.
I think those who enjoyed that time were the ones who had Air Conditioning. The whole thing got me wondering what brought about such heat, whether it was the high rate of deforestation and other human activities or it was just nature trying to adjust.
Most of us longed for the month of April hoping to get some rain but strangely, we got no reasonable rain.
I think sometime in April, it drizzled and a lot of people rushed to start farming, funny enough after their crops germinated, no rain came again, and their crops dried off on the farm.
We even gave up on having rain, then last month, rain began to fall heavily. So far, since I have lived in this part of the world, I have never seen any heavy rainfall like the one that fell last month.
It was not just a heavy pour but it was mingled with a very powerful wind. A lot of houses collapsed, and a lot of roofs were taken off.
I don't know how it happened but my ceiling also fell one night during one of the heavy downpours. I had to sleep in my mother's room and then fix it the next day.
Heat is gone, and we are grateful for that but now the way the rain is falling is what we are worried about. Sometimes we can go two weeks without rain, then suddenly a heavy downpour with a strong breeze will visit us.
I have seen in the news how many areas were flooded as a result of the heavy rain and I felt for them. With this bad economy, having your home shattered by a natural disaster is not going to be easy to bear.
From the last two weeks, the rain has started adjusting, it still falls heavily though but the wind is not raging like it was. I hope it continues to adjust like that till it becomes normal again.
