Over the years different people get on-board on hive for different reasons. we all start up as a beginner and gradually we start climbing up the ladder as our knowledge about the platform grows. there are many ways to grow on hive as long as you are consistent with your activities on hive blockchain there is a room for a progressive outcome.
Amidst all this, there is a continuous process which I call The learning phase Which is a process undergone by everyone on hive or should I say a process everyone on hive blockchain is still undergoing. like I said a continuous process of infinite possibilities available for those who are intrigued by the idea of learning. there are a lot of ways to go about learning on hive, in order to understand how things works. the most popular one is mentorship, a responsibility that mostly falls on the shoulder on whoever onboard someone on hive or someone you consider knowledgeable.
I have always had the belief that everyone was invited to hive by someone, which means they are entitled to mentorship from such person but that is entirely untrue. there are people who found out about hive on their own without any knowledge of how it works but somehow they navigate their ways and on the long run they build a successful career on hive, have you ever wondered how that was possible? hive is complex, how were they able to find their way with little or no mentorship?
I mentioned in one of my post last year about the symbiotic relationship between authors and readers most people believe they are doing authors a favour by reading their post, probably by curating and reblogging, they consider it as a source of entertainment and all but that is not true. Not all post published on hive blockchain are jokes or comedy most of it are full of knowledge which you might not have noticed. it is one of the privileged enjoyed by most people who have discovered it.
There are different communities on hive who have taken it upon themselves to come up with different initiatives to assist hive users in their journey towards building a successful career on hive. Example of such community is hive learners community this community happens to be a distinguished one that tops the list with many other supportive communities. just like it's name implies hive learners, A community that strives to teach people how to be better on hive, the love their is massive. I have shared how I joined hive learners community in my previous post.
There are a lot of amazing initiatives in hive learners community but among it all one happens to be my favourite which is the weekly featured edition contest. well it happens to be the first initiative I knew of immediately after joining hive learners community or should I say it was one of the reasons why I joined hive learners community.
One of the reasons I so much love this initiative apart from how amazing the topics are, it allows people to freely share there perspective about the topics suggested and also encourage members of the community to engage in each others post which is one of the core requirements in participating in the weekly featured Contest. as a result of the rate at which members of the community take their time to engage in each others post it create room for corrections and learning.
I remember my first time participating in the contest, I believe i used the wrong tags. few minutes after I published the post I saw a comment from one of the members of the community pointing out the need for me to make corrections. what I loved the most about that was how pleasant the correction was, believe me I have experience how aggressive some moderators in other communities can be while trying to correct someone who is new to the rules but this was different. it was more like a complimentary correction π and I had to quickly go to the post and edit it. I was grateful for the correction, after that I don't remember making the same mistake again because I learnt how tags could affect a post negatively.
Apart from that, there was also a time I misspelled a word or it was probably by keyboard autocorrect that changed the spelling those things can be annoying sometimes. I wasn't aware of it and I just published it. after sometime I got a comment from one of the members highlighting the mistake, it was so funny because it turns out that the misspelled word has a meaning that is very offensive. I would have mentioned it but NAh.... it was very embarrassing π. I was lucky enough to get corrected and quickly edit the post if not who knows what could have happened. I was amazed by how members of the communities pay attention to details why reading a post, which has also encouraged me to do the same
It is no doubt that hive learners community has contributed greatly to the growth of my hive account through their support especially when I resumed from the long break I took from hive before being active on hive again, I faced a lot of difficulties finding my way back but thankfully I was privileged to find my way into hive learners community and also do my best to actively participate in the contest, in so doing I got the support of the members of the community that assisted me by showing me some helpful tips.
though I'm not a whale yet π but I have made a considerable amount of progress in the past one year and 7 months I have been participating in the weekly featured edition contest.
This write-up was inspired by weekly featured content titled "100 weeks of lessons" in hive learners community.
