Its indeed amazing how digitalization has gradually taken over the world that even a child of less than ten can easily access the internet swiftly. Unlike those days one has to get to a certain age before been handed a smart phone which practically makes us novice when it comes to the internet.
Although I got my first smart phone quite on time but all I was happy to do with it was to use the phone dictionary and google for research work as I find it difficult to use my hardcover dictionary. not like I can't search for the words using the dictionary but the stress that comes with it was what I wasn't ready to go through. Sometimes after successfully getting almost all the words then here comes that one particular word that chose to give a tough time finding leaving one frustrated so the moment I was handed a phone nothing crossed my mind than to use it for my school work.
Opening an account first 2go which drove a lot of teenagers and youths crazy wasn't my fantasy before Facebook it self and other applications became popular and every had to switch. It will also amaze you that after all those years of having a smart phone right from my primary five class, the first time I opened a social media account was until my ss1 class which I feel I can handle some stuff and not go out of control. Many won't believe this but then it's the truth my dad was the one who actually helped me open my Facebook account and without hesitation he did it for me while my elder brother just show me stuff around and that's it. They weren't bothered about the numerous contents flying around knowing the kind of woman they are raising.
But then again when it comes to censorship 99% responsibility lies on the parents. It is first the responsibility of these parents to see to what their kids watch online, not just that advice is very necessary. You don't just give children smartphones without advising them the kind of contents to engage with also before that you must have instill some good morals in them which is why good parental upbringing is a must.
Truth be told all the content creators out there are looking for money and it is what will fetch them plenty of it they go after likewise the owners of these platforms whose major aim of building an app is first for the purpose of making profits making them to do anything within their power to ensure their app is widely used by people. These automatically make censorship impossible even though they would want to set down rules but we all know it's not possible to do so as majority of the people will sort for other platforms to display whatever they do and nobody build an app for just his or her sellf. So the best thing to do just as I have mentioned earlier is for the parents to control what their kids go through online while the 1% is left for the kids to do the right thing even as they access the Internet.
