Nothing can be compared with the love we get from our family, family is everything, home is a place where you are accepted by friends and family and you have lots of time to relate well. Why should I think of sending my mother to a retirement home?
On this prompt, everyone has the right to their opinion and I believe the relationship you keep with your children determines who you will become in your old age, some mothers are too harsh to their children and grandchildren, and in this case, some people will love to suggest a retirement home for their parents not minding the expenses at all.
As a child we have a way of giving back to our parents in their old age, this people need all the love they can get in this world, we are now their companions and friends in their old age, we are their backbone and shoulder they need to lean on, there is no point in pushing them away while we can show love by taking care of them and shoeing them love around us.
How I wish my paternal grandparents were still alive, I would have suggested something like this for them, we are always running away from my paternal grandmother because she doesn't know how to pamper a child, and we prefer to spend all the holiday with our maternal parents, my grandmother is very harsh and a disciplinary at that, she doesn't care and everyone neglected her for her behavior, I wish she is still alive so that my parents can do the needful by sending her to the retirement home, I feel like when there is not enough love or strong bond between a mother and a child is when the issue of retirement home comes in.
Some mothers can be a pin on their children's necks when they are old, they always frustrate them and never give them the chance to show love to them, your relationship as a mother to your children or grandchildren depends on how they will relate with you when you are old, I can never allow my mother to spend the rest of her life in a retirement home.
I share a strong bond with my mother and I think I want her by my side, I want to take care of her, and I want her to be able to have access to me and share her thoughts with me, I want her to enjoy being with her family at all time, it is not necessarily we stay under the same roof, she has her own apartment and she should be free and travel to any of her children's house anytime she feels, I want her to have access to her grandchildren, she should be free with my children and create a unique bond with them.
I want my children to have a memory of their grandparents when they are no more not to distance them from each other, all my wishes will never allow me to create a gap or distance between my children and my mother likewise my siblings, none of them will buy the idea of taking our old parents to the retirement home.
