A memorable holiday that I will never forget, this memory still rings in my brain though it happened a long time ago.
It was a Christmas like this when my father told us all that we would be traveling to the village for the Christmas season, we were all happy and looked forward to the day to come.
Christmas is coming and we are preparing to travel to the village but we never see our Christmas clothes, as a child then we value Christmas clothes more than any other thing, even if there is no food for us we must clothes on Christmas day.
I was so skeptical and doubted if my parents would buy any of us our Christmas clothes, I was frustrated and went to my mother to ask her about our Christmas clothes, she responded awful and said there was no money to get us anything that period.
It had never happened before, my parents do buy clothes before Christmas even a month but I kept my cool since my mother said there was no money but I was not happy.
The day to leave for the village came and we traveled to the village when we got there my mother bought out our clothes, I don't know how she hid the clothes from anyone and no one suspected her, we were so happy, the joy on my heart knows no bounds, I was extremely happy because everyone got two clothes for the season.
The next day we cleaned the compound and my father called everyone that he had a special holiday for us, he said he wanted the season to be memorable for us so that we could tell our friends how we spent our holiday when school resumed.
He brought out some gifts and said this is the gift he will be giving anyone that makes him happy for the rest of the year, we all know that the year is coming to an end so we put on our best behavior just to be daddy's favorite at the end of the year.
The next day he took us to a town in Osun state in Nigeria to see the waterfall, it is called Erinjesa waterfall, we had fun, it was a picnic my mother cooked and packed a lot of fruits and we all wore the same dress, jean, and vest, we visited the place as a family, it was fun, we had a great time and the memory is still fresh till date.
We couldn't go back to our village that day because our village is far away, we traveled to the state so we lodged in a hotel and we traveled back to our village the next day.
After Christmas, my father decided that we should all visit where warm springs and cold springs meet. In this village of Ikogosi, situated in the southwest of Nigeria's Ekiti State, The Ikogosi Warm Springs is a popular tourist destination. Where the cold spring flows alongside the warmer one, converging at that point so that both springs retain their respective temperatures.
We visited the place and it was lovely, the warm water and cold water met but both still maintained the Normal temperature, it was a lovely experience for me and since then I have never visited those places.
Did anyone win my father's gift?
Yes, my brother won the gift because he is so calm unlike me I will always disturb the house, find people's trouble, and run to him to report them, I did not get the gift I desired but I got something from him at the end of the year.
