I welcome you all to my blog, I thought I would not write about this contest until I saw the prompt and I was excited that I could get the opportunity to share my experience.
The last contest I participated in happened last week, it was the sister forum hangout in our church, I belong to this group in church, and this forum comprises both married and single, the platform was created on WhatsApp where we do our weekly prayers and also discuss about what is going on in our lives, this platform allows us to interact with one another without any bias or any sentimental.
The yearly sister's hangout was scheduled for last week Saturday, we all decided on the date and time, and we promised that it would be entertaining there would be a lot of games and we would all be merry which was fulfilled.
So to make the day fun we decided on doing the cooking competition and also have time to interact with each other and also get to know how good our cooking skill is, as a sister we must learn how to cook to satisfy our family whether we are single or married, I was one of the participants because I love to cook and I have an assistant who helped me in bringing things and sending errands like wash this, arranged this and that.
The program was scheduled to start at exactly noon, but we know our people, so we must add extra time in other to make it African Time, the program started at exactly 1 pm and it was mind-blowing.
I was there exactly that noon and spots were given to all the participants where we will all carry out our cooking, I arranged my table, placed my gas on the table then my assistant arrived.
We set up our arena and then waited for others to come, finally when everyone was present we started the competition, we had some people who were the to judge our skill, though it is not something that happens in others to shame people who can't cook, we were there to catch fun and have a nice time.
We all cooked jollof rice in this contest and the same ingredients were shared with us all, we all started the contest and when we finished cooking, I was the second out of four groups, I am someone who listens to correction because I made a mistake in packaging my meals, the judge said I did not package my food very well but it is delicious, I was happy to hear this from her because we were not there for the fun alone but to learn from others.
I learned from others the way they package their food, this gives it another look that will entice people, it is not every time we make our meal regular, we must add some sweetness to it, make it look attractive and also enticing so that people will love to have a taste of it.

Though I didn't win the competition as the first position but I learned from it, I learned from others too and the difference is just slight corrections that we should all work on, no condemnation and no shaming.
