Hello everyone, how was your day? I hope you had a beautiful Sunday?
It is a wonderful time to share our creative skills with everyone on the creative sunday initiative, and I will be writing a poem as usual. Today I will be doing a poem on "satisfied", the poem is about a particular trait in human nature that always crave for more without saying enough or being content. My role is not to condemn such trait, but to bring to light this trait so that we can see what lies in us and make necessary corrections.
I was inspired to write this poem when I saw a friend of mine living the life of a lie, he literally fakes having nothing just to add to what he already has. He thinks he is wiser than everyone else, always taking and never giving. He never has to give, it is always his turn to take. This simple act has now become a habit he cannot change, yet throughout the years, he has nothing to show for it, he still lacks a whole lot. So, this poem is educating it's readers on the dangers of being greedy, there is only much we can accumulate and then the rest is extra. So, we have to be cautious. Here is the poem for you, I hope it blesses you the way it blessed me:
SATISFIED...
As I write to you,
I know for certain that you are hungry for more,
Hungry, hungry, hungry,
Hungry and never satisfied,
This is human nature,
Nothing is never enough,
We crave for more,
Especially when it is free.
The rich works to be richer,
The owners wants to acquire more assets,
It seems we don't know when to say enough,
But the truth is this,
When is the right time to say enough?
We cannot tell when to stop,
Could it be that we don't know when to stop?
Or is it in our nature to be selfish?
It is rightly said that too much of anything is bad,
Even the best things can be poisonous when it is too much,
Everything should be done in moderation,
Take, take, take,
And never give,
We must learn to say enough,
Even when we are not satisfied,
At least the most important things first,
Then the overflow,
Greed can be the undoing of a man,
We must be satisfied!
Summary
• The poem is basically talking about being content and satisfied with what we have, when we get to a point of having enough. There seem to be no lines drawn on having more than we can chew and it is in the nature of humans to have it all. So, a wake up call on knowing what is right and how to keep what we have to efficient use. "Too much of a good thing can be a poison too", this is a good illustration from the poem to portray what the nature of human is. The poem helps us see that satisfaction is achievable.
