Wildlife preservation is one of the major need of now even as some species of animals (both wild and non-wild) are already face extinction due to human activities such as hunting, using the animal skins, income generation etc. The good thing about life is that all things created have a unique purpose whether know or unknown to we humans and hence, the need to respect this fact even as abuse is on the rise. I believe the more people read and watch documentaries about wildlife and the animal kingdom in general, we will all appreciate one fact that the earth and nature is well crafted and not a coincidence with usefulness for each thing created.
Government of nations in their wisdom established wildlife conservation parks, game reserves, zoos, wildlife recreation parks and all not to exploit these animals, but to preserve them especially the endangered species. Although, we humans derives entertainment while watching them and a certain entrance fee is been paid to have access to these places as income generation/maintainance, however, we need to still remember that some are in higher institutions of learning studying courses and doing researchs on/about these wildlife. Therefore, these places are far more than entertainment or recreation, it is a place of learning aswell.
To me, i believe these places prevents these animals to be poached on unnecessarily and hence, helps in wildlife conservation. Take for example in Nigeria, the lawmakers have pass for the third reading the bill seeking Nigeria's wildlife protection as illegal trafficking of such were on the rise at the porous borders. Source. The same way if cannibalism ia encouraged anong we humans, no one will be save, it applies to these wildlife aswell and other animals termed endangered species.
In addition, while been put in the cage, recreational parks, game reseves etc, the natural habit which these animals would have been naturally is still been recreated to some certain degrees and some of their diets maintained which makes it to cost more to run these places but it worth it. To me, i personally believe that having such places is far better and civil than each individuals having such in their homes possing q great risk to the neighborhood. For example, in Pakistan, the owners of "pet" lion was arrested after it escapes home and attacks a mother and her 2 children. Source
Therefore, wildlife conservation through wildlife recreation parks, zoo, game reserves is far more than recreation or income generation, but presevative hereby preventing the extinction of some endangered species maintaining their existence. Also, these places contributes to knowledge and appreciation of wildlife even as it facilitates tourism hereby increasing the revenue of the establishment. Most importantly, having wildlife at residence poses danger and hence, in a curtailed environment, the danger is minimized to the minimum. I supports wildlife preservation and i believe in keeping such at places such as Zoo, wildlife recreation centers, game reserves and all.
