As I sit here thinking of what to make of this topic, whether it's ethical to test on animals for the betterment of humans, I have mixed feelings about this because I think to myself, these animals have families too. It's a tough topic to grapple with, especially when considering the well-being of innocent creatures in the name of scientific progress.

But on the other hand, I understand the importance of using animals like guinea pigs and lab rats in research before conducting human trials. Will you be comfortable with Elon Musk doing a human test trial with a family member or with your animal? After thinking about this, I understand why animals are used. Let's take, for example, scientists who use animals to learn more about health problems that affect both humans and animals and to assure the safety of new medical treatments. Some of these problems involve processes that can only be studied in a living organism, e.g., mice, rats, and other animals like chimpanzees. This research is not just for the benefit of humans alone but also for the development of medicine for the animals too.

It's a crucial step in ensuring the safety and effectiveness of new medications, treatments, and procedures before they are introduced to people. After all, human lives are at stake, and thorough testing is necessary to prevent harm and promote well-being. I am sure there is no one here that would choose the life of animals over that of humans.
But then again, I can't help but feel pity for the animals involved in these experiments. They don't have a choice in the matter, and their lives are often sacrificed in the pursuit of scientific advancement. Is it fair to subject them to pain, suffering, and even death for the greater good of humanity? If they could talk, what would they tell us humans?
While the use of animals in research has been a longstanding practice, it has saved many of us reading this blog; we have technological advancement, we understand our body matrix better, and we have developed tissue, cells, medication, and many more.
Sometimes I wonder if there's a way to avert this ethical circle. Is there a way to conduct research and make progress without relying on animal testing? Are there alternative methods or technologies that can provide valuable insights without causing harm to living beings? Are animals the only living organisms we can use for the test?
Finding a balance between scientific progress and ethical treatment of animals is essential. It's a complex issue that requires careful consideration, empathy, and a commitment to exploring innovative solutions that prioritize both human health and animal welfare.
If we are to choose between human and animal, I am sure 90% of us will choose humans over animals because humans have ways to preserve these animals when they are at the brink of extinction. Also, the animals used for the test are grown or developed in the lab, which means forest animals are safe, and no harm is done to them.
