They say, “Take this pill and you’ll feel better in no time.” But what happens when the pills stop working or never worked at all? I’ve come to realize that not every ache needs a prescription. Sometimes, the healing we need comes from the smallest, most ordinary things: a morning walk, a glass of water, a proper night’s sleep, or simply saying no to things that drain you. I learned this the hard way. There was a period in my life when I thought medication was the only way out, but the real change came when I made a conscious decision to shift my habits. It wasn’t dramatic, but it was effective, and if you know you work from home and you mostly feel discomfort while working or when you wake up, then this article is for you.
The fact that many people like me work from home has made us very lazy to do some things like moving our bodies or exercising. When we feel a little discomfort, the next thing we feel is that we are sick, and then we opt in for drugs. I have felt this way many times while waking. I will wake up full of energy, but as soon as I get up, I feel tired immediately, like I have done so much work the previous day. I would say to myself, "But all I did was sit and work on my PC, so why am I tired? Where are these body aches and headaches coming from?"
We fail to understand that our body is like a machine that needs to be warmed up before putting it to work. There are days when I would be working and I would feel like sleeping, even when I haven't done anything. I started taking coffee, but guess what, it is not healthy for the body. I was using drugs, and it felt like my body had already adapted to the drugs, and they had no effect. I spoke with a friend and he advised me to always exercise every morning. I thought to myself, can that be a solution to how I am feeling? He told me to go for a walk every evening and make sure it's a long walk and do my exercise every morning.
I started exercising every morning, and the truth about it is that I always feel tired after each exercise, but after I shower and start working, the headache is gone, and I feel more active and alive. It's like the pain is a medicine to my body to awaken some sleeping part of me.
I continue with the exercise every morning, and now it is a routine for me.
Looking back now, I realize that what I needed wasn’t another pill; it was movement, routine, and discipline. That simple shift in lifestyle did more for my body and mind than any medication ever did. It reminded me that healing sometimes comes in the form of sweat, fresh air, and showing up for yourself every single day. So, if you’re like me, working from home, constantly battling random fatigue and discomfort, maybe it’s time to ask yourself: When was the last time I really moved my body? You don’t have to start big. Just start. Your body will thank you for it.
