The season of Christmas comes with alot of goodies from family, friends and loved ones.
It's a season we all prepare to merry and celebrate.
There are many things I love about the season. When we Celebrate in my home town (east) with all my family members is different from when we celebrate away from our home town are two different beautiful celebration stories.
CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION AWAY FROM MY HOME TOWN
First I do acknowledge the reason for the season which is the Birth of Jesus Christ.
This reminds me, that when it's your birthday you need to celebrate no matter how small, just acknowledge your birthday
The reason he came and the price he paid. Am always grateful to God for this special gift.
Secondly, From the beginning of the year, we do a contribution of funds from January to December and we use the money to buy foodstuffs at the end of the year, which We share amongst ourselves. This feels good because most of the items would be used during the Christmas season.
Thirdly, It feels like my birthday because I also receive good wishes and gifts from colleagues, vendors and friends.
Fourth, shopping for the season. When you have kids getting new clothes and footwear is very important for them. No matter how small the joy it gives them that they have new clothes and footwear for Christmas it's important to them.
Fifth, Getting livestock(Chicken) I usually buy life chicken at the market, they kill and clean it for me. But when it's Christmas, I buy the chicken and take it home for my kids to see and feed the chicken before I kill it and show them how to clean it. This is exactly the way my mother shows us how it's done.
Sixth, cooking for the feast. This is when I cook with the biggest put in my house. Making different delicious meals. Rice is the main food with fried chicken the taste of fresh livestock killed is different from frozen chicken.
Catfish pepper soup, special bitter leave soup with goat meat and stock fish. Alot to mention.
Seventh, Sharing our love with neighbours and friends that came to visit. I share small portions of food and drinks with my neighbour.
THAT ONE THING THAT MAKES ME LOOK FORWARD TO CHRISTMAS EVERY YEAR
Families timeout for a week, I spend happy Time with my family I always have extvisitmilies come visit and we share love and eat lovely meals.
Am so glad this Christmas is a weekend everyone is coming to my house because they have given me your money to prepare our local delicacy," Abacha stock fish, Abacha with fried fish, ofe akwu with goat meat.
I have placed an order for all the food items which would be delivered in two days.
It's going to be fun trust me.
