Hi all this is @furiousboy and this is my post submission for this week's contest.
Talking about the risks that we human takes I believe there are multiple factors for such irrational decision-making where a human being takes a risk to achieve something and talking about the factors there can be many external factors and internal factors that can lead to such decision-making. Do that's what I believe I hope you people will have having something else to add a phone to this belief so I would request you to share your thoughts in the comment section below.
So let's start with such an incident where I made such a decision and what that decision led me to, this is a story from my past when I was a teenager and it was the time of summer I had just completed my exams in college and me with my mother and other members of my family went to our hometown Rajasthan. As many of you people would know about the condition of the weather over there as it is too hot during summer the temperature reaches to 40 degrees and sometimes even more than that. As it was the summer vacations many of the people from different places came to the hometown and many of my friends were also there during the time so in most of the afternoons we used to go beside the lake side to a swim during the peak time of afternoon to cool ourselves, and that's pretty common for most of the people to joins us and swim with us, and enjoy the cool breeze and water of the lake during a long hot summer day.
So there is a big lake and besides that lake you can find a well also so if you don't know how to swim you can enjoy swimming near the shore of the lake but if you can swim you can enjoy diving into the well, and trust diving in that well with your friends on a hot summer day feels like something out of this world experience and a memorable moment also. At that time I didn't know how to swim but all of my friends of my age knew how to swim so they used to dive in the well and I used to swim at the shore of the lake it was too un-enjoyable to see my friends diving and having fun they used to try different types of diving and even try to do stunts like backflips, frontflips, etc. and when they used to come by the lake they used to swim from one end of the lake to the other end of the lake and I was just watching them from the sidelines near the shore.
One day my friends told me that, I should join them in the well and they will teach me how to swim as they learned to swim in the same manner on their own or by diving directly into the lake. So they tied a rope from one end above the rim of the well and the other end was kept open for me to grab it and learn to swim while holding it and if something went wrong so they can pull me up, who knew it would be the worst idea of learning swimming. I started well and initially learned how to move your legs and hit stroke in the water and I was swimming well, but then suddenly one of the boys untied the knot from the above assuming that I am not using the rope anymore and I learned to swim but the moment I felt that the rope is untied and it is let loose I got unstable and within a moment I was drowning in a 52 feet well. I felt that this was my last day and I saw my life flashing in front of my eyes, I saw my mom shouting at me and warning me not to go near the well and be by the lake side. It was the end for me but then a man passing by saw a group of boys scared near the well he ran towards them and saw me drowning, he jumped in the well to save me and pulled me near the side steps of the well and on that day I learned a valuable lesson that one should analyze the risk involved in the work and then should take the action.
