Happiness is an emotion, something we express through our words or actions. To be happy means feelings of joy, fulfilment and contentment. We are all humans but the definition of happiness is different to each individual. Some people find happiness in strange things; things others consider abnormal, are what gives them joy. It is also possible to be happy even in tears and in pain, really happiness is a wide term.
Most people associate happiness with material things, they feel like if they have all the things they need in the world, then they will be happy but this is rather an irony. Having everything can give you transient happiness, a fleeting feeling of emotion but in the long run, the feelings die and happiness seems to be missing in such a life.
Some people are of the notion that poor people are the happiest people on earth while others believe that poor people are not happy because they lack so many basic requirements of life. I can't agree with either of the statement, happiness can not be termed based on the context of poverty. Being poor does not mean happiness neither does being rich means. Since happiness has no specific or definite term, the emotion is defined in whatever way you termed it.
How do I define my happiness
This question got me cracking my brain because I have never actually tried to define this emotion called happiness. Truth be told, we find happiness even in the most smallest or commonest thing, for me, I would say happiness means; family, getting genuine love and support from family and friends, achieving my goals in life, assisting those in need, speaking up for the less privilege, learning new things, doing what I love, performing my duties, not being pressurized and most importantly a peaceful mind.
Finding happiness
Sometimes when I feel sad, I do video calls with my sister and mom, this is helping a lot. I go visit with friends, and whenever I see someone in need I reach out to them with my capacity, I speak up seeing someone being treated unfairly. I endeavour to learn new things periodically and meet up with my goals and ensure I carry out my duties to the best of my ability. Also, when I feel stressed or pressurized, I take time away from everything, to relax my mind and help my mental state.
However the future is uncertain and things never go the way we plan. There are days when I am unable to do what gives me happiness, so, I try my best to be happy irrespective of this.
